Does the ZX-14 crankshaft gear engage directly to the primary gear of the clutch basket?

I found this drawing ...I'm sure it's not a sportbike. Notice intermediary gear between the crankshaft gear and clutch primary...this makes the clutch turn the same direction as the engine....which appears to be counterclockwise?

So to represent the ZX-14 engine, I removed that intermediary gear. Did I fix it correctly?

Our engine turns clockwise viewed from the RH side, right?

The 14 is gear to gear, no intermediate gearing.

Engine rotation (top photo) w/intermediate gear = CCW
Engine rotation (bottom photo) w/out intermediate gear = CW

Make sense now why the counter rotation vs. engine direction calls for the other gear to turn back to forward movement?

uh-HA!! If they didn't have the intermediary gear on the CC turning engine, the bike would go backwards!

Dummies --why didn't they just make the engine turn the right way in the first place and then they wouldn't need to go throwing another gear in there to make the bike go in the direction you want to to go!
