True that sharkey. Topped out at 34 today and 7inches sitting on the ground from Tuesday night. What's you bottom dollar?

I pulled the trigger on a set of BST's...ceramic bearings also.Vortex 42 rear.Anyone know if the bearings come installed with these? Thanks;)This will be the final upgrade to my precious.Been wanting to do this for ages....

You GO Greenman!

Awesome!

That is half the bike. Really even on the new 14, that will be as big of a change as an aftermarket exhaust! Those are going to look really nice with your paint scheme too. I'm so jealous.

Now Ohlins suspension!

Some day I will. I've got lots going on right now with my bike and can not put another 6 grand into wheels. One day maybe a second hand set will show up ?

Would love to see pic of those blue PM wheels on your bike.

only just caught up with this thread but some useful info. I have Galespeed Polished alloy wheels on my 14. Had Galespeed on my previous Kwak, until you have seen their wheels in real life it is difficult to appreciate the quality these folk put into their wheels. Before someone says it I agree for the price (around 3300dollars jn Europe)
the quality should be good!!

If I decide to go with the Galespeed wheels, do I need a new sprocket, chain, brake rotors etc? Ceramic bearings a must? I think the polished wheels would look great.

Sprocket Yes. Chain your call, how old is it ? Ceramic bearing are NOT Needed.

That being said if you are going for the wheels ?????

You will read lots on the bearings but I will tell you first hand they are nice. Rolling resistance is a instant diff you can feel. Very nice rolling around the garage will be your first sign of how nice. As they break in they polish and get better again(so they say). This is something that will always be up for debate, but yes if you can afford ???? Ask yourself the question if they roll better around the garge will they not roll better on the street????? Stopping distance increases as well so you must hit brakes sooner. Very easy to get used to. I hope this helps. Cheers.

That sounds like a yes for the bearings? What about the rotors? The owner at my local Big K had Galfers on his 14 and didn`t like them. He is going with a set from an R. I have 18,000 mi on the original chain and sprockets. Probably go with new ones.

The stock rotors from the 14R have yet to warp. Quality looking like they may have solved the issue of poor quality steel. Not Galfer and no bling only down side if your into that over function.

As for Galfers, My brother had to send back two sets of Galfer Chrome. I'm a bit turned off by them for that reason. Got to big and quality went for a shit, who knows. One set ok, but two ??? They come loose on the rivits which brings new meaning to full floating. Down time and shipping costs = Anger. He is not alone in this.

The ones I'm most impressed with are the Braking SK Directional. The hard core abuse I have put them through on the Turbo bike is almost a crime. Very Very impressed. Best I have ever owned bar none. Hope this info helps cheers.

These lasted two months. Looked great that's where it ends

Stoppies killed more than one set. I don't do that any more $$$$$$$$$

One last thing, when you order Rims order the proper rotor bolts. Stock were a half inch to long for the Marchesini. I spent 4 hours cutting and grinding weighing bolts. Grrrrrr, with the GaleSpeed I ordered the proper ones. Lesson learned. May not sound like a big deal but it was down time.

Stock too long for the rear CZ rim I have but no prob....they just stick out to the inside of the rear rotor carrier about 5/16". Saved me replacing $40 of ProBolt Stock size Ti rear rotor bolts...they all came loose but for one. The other three were loose and sticking out the outsidet of the rotorabout a 16th inch......hanging on by the extra thread length. Rotor bolts too long is a fail safe if you look at the possibility that they could work their way out. The rear rotor gets hot on my bike under normal use.

also...I used never-seize on those rotor bolts. I'll be cleaning those up and going to blue locktight.

No problems with the front rotor bolts coming loose. Used never seize on them too. They are not stock size though.

Word of caution.....keep checking and double checking aftermarket parts for bolt tightness even after a few thousand miles.

Also I'll mention right here the one thing I think is a total shame about CZ is the smallass screws they use for the front rotors and then they tell you to use the stock torque spec. They don't even make these things shoulder bolts. I busted one off and it was such a PITA to get out.....talk about F%%%ing downtime!

No, Romes. The stockers are a 5 bolt pattern with 6mm (I think?) shank bolts that have a shoulder. The CZ rotors are a 6 bolt pattern with 5mm shank and no shoulder. The shoulder prevents you from overtightenning and stripping threads. The larger shank can take the torque that a rotor bolt SHOULD have applied to it.

Some day, I may drill and tap a 6mm thread and prolly cut a recess to accept a shoulder. I think CZ should have had the sense to do this in the first place. The 5mm bolts they use are more appropriate for fastenning fairings than rotors.

nope, front CZ rotors will not fit a stock bolt pattern. Cz is designed for 6 bolts that are smaller, shorter and without shoulder. Saves a few ounces though.

front and rear OEM rotor bolts all together (14 bolts) weight

front CZ rotor bolt weight

rear rotor bolts ProBolt Ti (ZX-14 OEM copies) I used on rear CZ rim with Galfer rear rotor (notice the shoulder and the larger shank)

Good info Rook. Amazing. I'm missing a piece of the puzzle as to how the Tone Wheel will work. 58 cycle shows our 2006 2012 model year. ????

I'm sure we could make one but is that you really want to be doing ?

But why you want to replace your Gale Speeds? sheesh man....just get a set of BSts and be done with it. I know they cost a lot in Canada with import duty but two sets of forged alum cost more, no?

Rook I was not planning a purchase but was very interested in the mechanics of How the Tone wheel could be mounted once I saw 2012 model year listed in the 58 cycle add. The new tone wheel would have to be made with the same 6 bolt pattern as the CZ- rotors that come with the rims. This is Mentioned no where in the add. I was looking for the words, new 6 bolt tone wheel is supplied ???? All Bad for anyone not knowing and made this purchase.

Talk about down time. The 5 bolt wheel can not be drilled to match for the 6 bolt pattern. This is important info for any one reading this thread. Unless I'm wrong, forget quick install. Also noticed polished wheels for 200 additional dollars is no longer in the add.

Point being a phone call should be made before making a purchase for the 2012/13 Model years. My interest was only to notify others as to the possible issue.

just get a set of BSts and be done with it.

Rook I'm always watching for a second hand set as I would love to have them(who wouldn't). What stops me is, I could bolt on a hundred more horse power for the same money. The fun factor of More power always draws me away.

Daryl has offered his bike up for a test ride of the BST's but he would not take my Turbo Bike on the switch. That may have saved us both Large $$$$$$$$$.

Only thing missing in this thread now is a Pic of Grn's New BST's. The list here of guys owning the Bst's is growing fast.

...you should IMO just get a set...they will transform the feel of carving;)AND launches....AND....well...on a TURBO bike....methinks CARAZY quick(er)LOL!!!My experience with the Carrozeria Company wasn't so good....but those are fine wheels nonetheless;)

The Tri-R's are very nice....BUT....I didn't find any listed for the 2012 and up model years. For tyhe Busa...yes.The ZX...nope.Probably just too much torque for those 'thinnish' spokes....that's my guess anyway.(I like 'thinnish;)"They look GREAT on the Rookster's bike;)

58cycle is the place to buy CZ wheels and DO ask for their special savings deal and you will get an amazing deal. The People at 58cycle don't know enough about CZ rims to give detailed info. Tey need to ask CZ. I spoke with CZ myself many times. They were helpful but even this guy did not know some very inportant info like torque specs and the special thread that was mentioned earlier. As far as I can tell, I might be a better tech support guy for CZ USA.

now cometo think of it....it is absolutely astounding how much people don't know about their aftermarket parts and all bikes that they fit. Motomummy had me sign off a waiver on the Bridgeport valve stems they sold me because they were not supposed to work on a ZX-14. They work great. however, The bridgeports seemed to require some modding to fit safely on my CZ rims but as far as anyone was concerned, those valvestems were perfectly safe installed as is from the factory. go figure.
