Immobilizer Error
08/26/09 2:12 AM

I know the guys in the US don't have this affliction but us Europeans have an immobilizer as standard on the ZZR1400.

I went down to start my bike in the company car park yesterday and when I turned the key I didn't hear the fuel pump kick in. When I looked at the screen I seen "IMMOBILIZER Error" and a picture of a key.

I turned the bike off and back on and it started fine. When I checked the service manual it said I can see the error codes by pressing the mode and reset buttons together but this just gives me the menu for changing the default fuel mileage readings etc.

Has anyone any ideas ? I'd rather not go back to the dealer until I can at least prove something is wrong.

When it says"immobilizer error",then you push and hold the two buttons for approximately 2-3 seconds-however long for it to show the error number.Do not turn off key.Do it with the ignition on.I don't know about "immobilizer error" codes, but I'm guessing they're displayed the same as any other code-first the "category",then the button deal, and the "code number".If ya turn the key off-it'll clear the displayed code.(something's going on with this edit function here-it's going kookoo!)

You would have to take the seat off, prong the saved codes that are not displayed on the dash, but in memory so the phantom code can be known who flashed.

Mine does it quite often, so much so that I carry the Master key with me when I ride. It seems to do it when I switch the bike on when it is in first and the sidestand is still down. Now I put it in neutral before I switch on. Seems to work.
