Hub - TPS - good A/F
03/29/09 1:41 PM

Hub and all,

Did the recommended use some tape idea on the throttle to mark the TP percentages. Having the Bazzaz software which tells me the TPS, ignition on only, was a breeze.

Great idea all.

Now here is what I found. I was looking for cruising RPM range of say 3.5 to 4.5K RPM which is about 65 MPH to 90 MPH.

The throttle position, in that range or riding speed/RPM, begins at about a few percent, and never gets to 10 percent. Maybe about 8 or so tops.

That is great, near as I can tell for easy adjusting of a map at that RPM and TPS set of ranges.

So here is another question:

What is a good, safe lean A/F? Cause the turbo is not 'on' so much, and at 90 MPH I might get 1 PSI, I though I'd run the AFR around as 'X' A/F to gather in that data, and then incorporate those changes into the map.

So 14.1, or ? for good/great MPG?

14:1 is somewhat lean to me. If I were turbo'd, I'd be in the 12/13:1 range. But if you are cruising at 14:1, it sounds rich enough. Not that experienced in the blade. Oh, but Rotty could tell you a lean/rich working number. Just had to get that in there, JDC.

Mine will run around 12.5 to 12.8 when I am not under boost then at max boost it will go to 10.9 to 11.3 and that is with a 9in long pipe O2 sensor 3in from the end .

i have an LC1 . My pipe is 29inches long with 02 sensor 12 inches from turbo .. i get all kinds of readings .. but i did do a 1200 mile ride getting 35mpg off boost on a differant set-up ... but now i only get around 20miles per gal... i have that good mileage map but i don't trust nothing but my current set-up 9000 miles 300 dragstrip passes on it now ...

I ended up setting about 13.5-13.7 for cruising, TPS under 9 percent and lower from 3.5 to 4.5 K. A touch of the throttle (10 percent and above) takes it to 12.5 if at 4K and higher or to 13.1 if lower than 4K.

I think it outta work just fine. I will see.

I have a LC1 also and I would like to know how you can get a reading higher than 20.1 when I close the throttle?

when i chop the fuel on my bike it hits 22 to 1. sometimes 23 to 1 if i recalibrated in cold air

but everytime i recalibrate the 02 sensor it changes the lean settings on off throttle or chop ..

Mine will go to 30.1 I just wanted to know if the reading is real or something else is making the gauge do that?

it a real reading off of the left over fuel when you close the throttle .. as soon as you give it gas it catches a new reading

Looks like when you lift at those RPM's, you get that lean pop where you see the fuel cut off, she spikes in the 20's then like Rot said, you cannot even feel the difference but to see it monitored lean on lift, (cuts the injectors off = Lean Readings. Just a guess, why you see the 20's lean out.
