That would be a dream come true for me, Bean. I live way up North in Wisconsin, USA. Those old Mad Max cycle chase clips were the thing that sparked my interest in sportbikes years ago. I have this idea that you Australians really tear it up down there.
Welcome. I know we have a few other Australian members.

Nup, I'm a Yankee, born and bred. Love to live in a place that had so many desolate roads like Australia. We have some areas like that up here but you might need to ride a couple hours to get there. Very little traffic but a good number of deer which are ~70 - 130 lbs. I reckon you might say they are kangaroos on 4 legs minus the tail. A loud exhaust is much more effective than a beep-beep horn. A couple snarls scares the dickens outta them and they're gone scurrying into the brush.

It's hard for a Yank to resist having a go at talking Aussie every now and again. Queenslanders welcome as much as all of the rest of you blokes from the Land of Oz. of course.
CAmels, ey? We can't top that. Closest thing we have is bison but none of those around my neck of the woods. Plenty of deer. You can count on seeing at least one every day up in my home town in Michigan. They wander about like pets.

So, you're laid up for a while hey Bean? Glad you're alive and ready to hop back on. Good opportunity to do some mods to the bike now that the knee is taken care of.

Cheers mate. There has to be more guys around, guess like me until now just not forum members.
I had crutch rockets before and until 2 years ago I did have an 1100 that I changed to a cruiser to preserve my license and keep the family happy. That just don't cut it any more no matter how much I tell myself it is the sensible way to go.
Apparently there is a new 14 due around the end of the year so I am hoping that will run down the price of the current model hence Oct/Nov target. I am all over the web searching out info on the 14 for upgrades and concerns to fix. Seems first up is pipes, flies out and PC although I have done that before and really didn't make much difference on dyno. maybe the 14 is different.

ozmax, If you get an '08-'10, don't bother with taking the flies out. You can do it if you want but it won't make a lot of difference. I usually tell people to do the pipe and PC first. If you get an 06-'07, pull the flies if not already done. Never dynoed my 14 but the full system made a huge dif in power and even more in handling.
