Does anyone know when the 1199 will arrive at the Ducati dealer? I'm dying to go sit on one and check this bad boy out. We may yet see a Ducati on top of the production liter bike heap. Whowouldathunk?

Well, can't argue with ya there Bean. My 2011 ZX-10R was on top of the food chain for maybe 15 minutes.....lol! I knew that going in though, the development cycles are intense and King of the Hill just makes you a target! I buy these things for the long haul, after 25 years they'll all be classics!

Cooter, I'm not a fan of the dry clutch "death rattle" either but if it's any consolation to ya, the 1199 has a conventional wet clutch.

Its a slipper too, right? I read the article and posted about it a couple weeks ago. Can't even remember what I read, now. PTSD sucks.

Kruz, 'death rattle' is all about race bread and butter. It's the brand name part of it. Less oil in the salad. Less cover is more weight lost. More air to cool it from the outside instead. Race bred from the beginning. Only thing that went wrong was the noise or fear [joe public had] of the thing falling apart. It was more designed to close the thing down so as to comply with the customer more than an epa noise. This was going way back, more to the beginning of the bike world meeting all those nice ones on the rice ones.

That pizza slice is hitting at 17K and change. If you wanna the house is special, itsa 22K wet abs sauce say. That'say lot of pay so... Oopseas, wrong currency. There is one caveat and that is that euro kind of not all there yet like a norton. Snort'innorton is a witworth nightmare. Either commit to the headaches coming or bow out. Where a japanese bike runs like a clock. Yeah, looks nice and all. But, more a one off, small run of the model. Hard to find parts down the road. 14 parts are all over the place.

Rare will you find the Peegal parts. Easier to find some girl pee for a buck core two. You have to be hardcore italian tune upping you go anna picka one of these. It will have some nagging something about it. Some of them do. Not saying who's brand. I'm just saying, you put one up against the other... Shesa gonna lose. Sushi wins.

If I had the money for an 1198 and was 30 years younger, I'd have a big problem.

I'd have to ride to Baltimore (2-3 hours in traffic) to get to someone who could actually work on it and was Ducati certified.

Like I said elsewhere, I had my fill of having to drive supercars 3 hours to get to a shop that could service them when I was much younger and richer.

Thats for the birds.

This is why I'm really jazzed about the C14. Walk out to the garage. Start it up. Ride it all day. Wake up the next morning, ride it all day. Wake up the next morning, ride it all day back home.

Rinse and repeat.

Get it serviced on specified intervals at a shop 10 minutes from my house.

Change the tires once in a while.

When you've been there, done that, for enough decades, you start to value things that you can just use without having to go out of your way to maintain them.

Point and shoot, so to say.

And another thing... Before these 02 tools I braised up where I can finally use a narrower tune base, I tuned the bike by ear in warmer weather. The other day I take it out, it revs over 3K when I see that water temp a 190 and 174 is all day long. I knew this thing needed another italian tuneup, so home I went and swapped bikes. The other day I closed the air screws down, she is back to a regular idle.

It's kind of a good idea that idle sensor, I'm now thinking. Tune for heat, tune for cold. Only your computer idle circuit will know for sure. See that pain in the ass, unstable, unforgiving, tempermental tune?

Just letting you know, I took the snorkel out of the intake. They could have the same setup, who knows? Either way, I had the air cleaner off, questioned that assembly back on, reading something interesting, simple, and obvious. Seems the guy played with his air cleaner housing on the same bike I have. He did not get it back on right. The 02 sensed a leak, filled that new data all rich running to compensate for the lean.

That was my high speed dilemma or was it the air screws? Needless to say, I drained the tank just in case I needed to check my work. That answered my air leak was more a tuning problem. And to hold those partsapasta in hand, massage HA the dough you are shelling out, the cheap connectors you find at radio shack, I mean, you better walk that bike 360 in the deep seats. This is a weird bike build is all I can say.

Not sure about this thing yet. Hub's right, the one to own is the 1199 S sans ABS for $22,995. I just came from the Ducati forum and there is a 6 to 7 month waiting list, you will pay full pop or you don't get a bike.

Voted most beautiful motorcycle in the world at the Milan International motorcycle show but IDK, to my eye something doesn't flow quite right, jury is till out, we need Rook's artistic eye here. The front fender supports look like small coal shovels and I hate gold fork tubes, they shout bling, give me natural aluminum or a gun metal grey like my 10R. The lines, shapes and textures of the motorcycle if styled properly should not need gold paint to draw attention to themselves...at least that's my opinion.

Side exhausts look like drop lights without the bulbs and the fuel tank has a "chiseled' look about it rather than a flow. Almost looks like someone caught the tank in the automatic garage door and crushed it.

A real concern is the frameless design. Notice that the steering head and rear subframe, swingarm and horizontal shock mount directly to the engine as a fully stressed member, there is no traditional frame. This is part of the reason why it is so light but isn't this the same design that even Rossi can't win on?

That is IMO, italian line in all its glory. Penned by "The Man!" with the golden eye for lines. You should see it from the rear.

This is brother ground. Sister connector looks like this, but one wire is the plastic connector(s). They use the winker base as ground, thus, one less wire, etc. You need both male and female plastic ends. One of those, can't plug it in any other way because one end is square [ the other is pointed > as in, can't put a square peg in a round about way of that exchange rate. It may be expensive, but to build both connectors? Bring off the shelf parts forward. We dunt need to have someone machine out a patent looking connector, run thousands off, etc. Can't copy one and call it your own without some sort of royalty paid or just buy the boxes of parts and builda bike.

It may sneak in those kind of connectors you don't see from the outside. I was surprised by the execution when I saw thishit they use.

I think the Panigale is a great looking bike but I agree with you on the awkwardness of the fuel tank. That may be just the angle we are viewing from. What is really going on there I think is there is a ridge that sticks out from the top of the tank to catch your knee on when you hang over. Pretty cool shape but not so easy to perceive in that pic. The tail is too small for the rest of the bike but that is getting to be the state of the art look for liter bikes. I like the vents and dodads on the lowers. The muffler is gimmicky but at least they put some thought into that. It does match the rest of the bike. I think it looks good.

your 6r has a nicer profile because of the pointy nose and the slightly more balanced size of the tail.

Kruz, Believe it or not, I'm in campissing in my pants. It is one sweet bike. Ask ninja about his ape. When they wrote this machine up, pointed out what the japanese lack building a bike like this, they can use a few lessons. It is all what was written about it. Every word was true. Handles like a dream. I sat on a duc with the same kind of high bar profile. It was so uncomfortable, I can outlast on the ape than I can the 14's saddle.

I was drawn to that bike for some reason. My taste for an italian ride kind of soured living with this bike. I mean, there is not a thing wrong with it. It is one of those kind of bikes you have to experience. It's only a matter of time, the upshift becomes generic like the new ape coming out. They share the same kind of idea if not share that patent of ape's. The peegal has that no clutch upshift electrics, plus, this is fly by wire throttle.

I read my info per kidney breaks. So, this time around, I hear this may be a one throttle plate wonder. They seem to take over your braking by increasing the load on the back wheel so there is less hop on a hard hit at the pedal. It is a subthrottle being it is fly bye-bye cable yank. That says, it is possible to eliminate the sub plates, the actuator, the two cables...
