Any of you guys using 'after market' oil filters, e.g. Purlator Pure One, etc? If so, what are you using/what # are they?

^^^^I've heard of certain oil filters for cars that will fit a ZX-14. Hopefully someone will chime in for you. Personally, I only go with OEM. I would not use a high flow oil filter such as K&N for every day use because I don't trust that they filter as much as OEM.
Same thing goes for race air filters. Stick to OEM and don't worry about what might be getting inside your engine.

The Purolator Pure One filters mentioned are car filters that happen to fit. I used to use them until I was checking out their site. It read as follows:
"What About PureONE
If you're thinking you want to install a PureONE oil filter on your bike, please think again. PureONE oil filters are designed for vehicles, not bikes. Because of PureONE's high efficiency, the motorcycle oil pump may not be able to handle the pressure. The Purolator motorcycle filter line is designed to meet the specific needs of a bike; therefore we highly recommend the use of a Purolator ML filter over a PureONE oil filter."
ML16817 is the number for their motorcycle oil filter.

I've used the English made Hi-Flo filters for several years now. As far as I can tell, they work as good as anything out there. After 4000 miles, the Motul 300V I drain out of the Busa doesn't look all that different than it did when I poured it in, even still has a slight green tint to it.

Possible. My temp gauge goes to the same spot and stays there, pretty much no matter what. Setting at a light in the summer it will go up a slight bit, fan kicks on, and it doesn't go any higher.
Don't know what the needle position on the gauge translates to in actual degrees though. Do the 14s tend to run hotter or try to overheat easier?

^^I have heard of them overheating in hot weather doing high speed touring. I recall reading about one owner experiencing a boil over after he shut his down. Many 14 owners complain about the heat coming off the motor. I feel it on my legs but to me it isn't too bad. You wear shorts and you will have red legs. The heat is very nice in cold weather, IMO. Aftermarket exhaust seemed to reduce the heat a bit. I've read a lot of threads about owners concerned about the temp gauge going to 5 of 6 bars or even all the way. Never saw more than 5 on my 14. I guess there is an overheat warning icon that comes on the multifunc meter after 6 bars. Some have seen it.
The gen 2 busa with 2000 miles on it and all stock seems to run a lot cooler. I don't feel much of the heat and the temp gauge never goes above center. Not as good for cold weather. The 14 is warm in 2 minutes on a cold day. The busa will take 10 minutes.
