I ran into a guy yesterday that said the Kawi dealer in Frisco was selling left over '11 ZX-6Rs for $7500 drive out. If I had the cash laying around I'd grab another and turn it into a dedicated track bike at that price.
KHI must be offering heavy rebates on the 6R, that is one great little bike and a hoot to ride. Maybe you should consider one.....but then again you are one tall fella. I have no problem with the ergos but I'm just under 6'3" and that makes a big diference.

Drag, I took the 600 out yesterday and did a 150 mile ride on the F/M roads and kept thinking this thing was all I really needed back here. I was in fourth gear most of the time spinning between 10,000 and 12,000 rpm, way below the redline but fast enough to be in the meat of the power band. I don't think I could have gone any faster on the liters and only burned a little over $5 in gas.

I'm 6'3" and am not uncomfortable riding the CBR600RR. -bg

Yeah people think I'm just power hungry when I say liters are my limit but 750 and lesser I think the limit is 6'2-6'3. I sat on a 750 one of the salesman almost started laughing lol I also tested the daytona 675R: Awesome machine! Just move your pupils and the bike follows. Even the beemer and the Kaw were uncomfortable but I could make it work. So far the CBR 1000 has the best ergos. I don't know how C Cummings does it! Then again the wife says my butt come to her breasts and she's 5'10! Oh and before you guys jump to (bad) conclusions: NO she has nice firm boobies
$5 in gas huh???! That's why I always loose my battles with the 600's in the tight stuff. On my fav roads I can keep up with the weekend warriors. I'm constantly shifting between 1st and 2nd, using a lot of engine braking and feeling the rear dance a tad on every corner entry. Even tried opening the throttle while releasing the front brake (talk about smooth exit!!). I do all of that just to keep up then before we even get half way to our destination I have to signal the group I need gas!!!! lol

BTW, I've got you're Closer to the Edge DVD, Rook sent it to me. I've probably watched it 20 times already..not making this up..... I have that course memorized lol! Holler when you want it back and I'll send it to you.

Oh c'mon Drag, none of us were thinking she had SBS (Sagging Boobs Syndrome)....

OK, I'm exaggerating a little, I put in $5 when I stopped for gas but I did start out with a full tank. I imagine when I go to top off it will turn out the trip cost $10 - $12, still cheap. By comparison, my ZX-14 sucks fuel like an F-18 Hornet in afterburner, I have the full Ivan package and the accelerator pump feature enabled on my PC3.

The 6R has a slipper clutch and you can bang a couple of downshifts with minimal drama from the rear of the bike.
You're roads may also be tighter than ours, my favorite stretch of F/M has posted 30 mph turns with a a few 25s, 35s and 45s thrown in for a good measure, a good mix.
The 30 mph turns I enter about 75 mph, the 35s about 80 - 90 mph. This rule of thumb can get you into trouble though if you don't know the road, some of the turns are decreasing radius and you feel like you're running wide on the corner exits. Just West of Sanger Texas is the infamous WidowMaker, off camber and decreasing radius, posted 25 mph and seven bikers have lost their lives on this one corner in recent years. They run wide into oncoming traffic.
I don't ride the 14 out there anymore, too scary, I prefer the smaller bikes. On the crazy fast roads with wide open sweepers I take the 14.

Yup, no correlation, my 6R is actually more comfortable than my 10R.

Yeah C Cummings look really cool on that zx-10R!!!

I like that beemer but this commercial is making me not wanting any traction control. They got a point... What would you want an ECU to tell you how you should ride?
It made me think of those movies in which the hero beats the machine that is suppose to take his place.

We don't have a lot of tight FM's around here but Lime Creek which is about 15 min from my place is a pretty good one though short. You got easy turns at first then it tightens, The recommended speed is 20-30 mph. There is also City park road or something close to that (I'm not sure at this time)... That road lures you into easy fast corners and out of nowhere you get a never ending uphill double apexed corner. That one almost claimed my bike (I was following a 600). 2222 is also a good one. On good day, you find a Corvette or a Maserati who wants to play. Little that they driver know the last corner before 360 is a motorcycle corner. I usually take it easy until I get there and just wait to see the brake lights flash lol while I accelerate lol never fails! lol. Nothing beats the sisters in TX though. I'm going to try to head there twice a month. You know, I'm glad I started with the 14 because I have noticed (on the Triumph 675R notably) that small bikes are not that good at teaching you proper riding. With a 250 or even a 600 you can correct your trajectory at any time. During the test ride I got into a turn a little hot but because of the back little torque I was able to look just a tad more to the left and the bike followed with no drama. The 14 doesn't care about if you committed or not, once you show her a trajectory she sticks with it and when she manages to change direction it is at the expense of your man card. You have to be really careful about your trajectory but you manage once you master the 14 those liters and 600's will be child play. The only thing that would possibly slow me down is the peaky power and the fact that you have to be in the right gear 90% of the time.

Sad to say but there probably won't be another new bike in my future. I have enough now to probably last me the rest of my riding career....but never say never.

That being said, if I was going to spring for a new liter it would probably be the BMW, it has consistently placed at the top of the heap in any comparison for the past three years.

I agree.. you're set. If you take care of your machines, you probably have close to half a mil in mileage!!!
G Martin is so charismatic... They call the top moto GP guys Aliens but the TT racers are something else.
Watch 1:30...
When I hear D Pedrosa complaining about somebody touching him or Stoner complaining about getting overtaken in a dangerous fashion, it just makes me laugh.
I'm going to give the beemer a second look, I need to get used to the peaky power of the liters. The 675R felt more comfy than the Beemer and 10R but nothing beat the CBR ergos so far!
