The old battery has given up the ghost, has anyone replaced the standard battery with a Yuasa? or can you think of a better battery without spending an arm and a leg ??

You may find a lot cheaper if you search.
This is from Shorai's site.
Go to a 18 ah if you want a little more zing on startup. Still very light weight.
You will need to buy a Shorai maintainer. $80.
has been numerous threads on this board about Shorai. SOme positive reviews and some negative.

If you don't want a Shorai, or equivalent, don't cheap out on a lead acid either. At least go with a true gel battery. It will last twice as long.

I put the little 14 shorai in my bike.... working great so far and love the weight saving....
SWEET!
Tell ya the truth< i did not actually feel the weight loss. After dropping off so much weight from the bike, even 10 lbs does not feel like a lot. But OI know it's there and a major contributor to the overall reduction in weight from stock.
Use a Shorai charger and put it in charge mode for a day before starting the bike if the bike was stored. Use the charger on Maintain mode during storage. It will crank like new.
