lowsided on construction site.
10/21/11 5:22 PM

2 weeks ago on sat morning i was going to a car and byke show 30min from my house, well it had rained the night b4 so there was still some wet patches, i alwais like to have the cars behind me so they can see me, so i got to a light not too far from my house, and when it turned green i took of no too hard as there was construction, but enough to get ahead of the cars, i had felt the rear tired slipt b4, but when i hit the gas trough the construction it did it again, but i guess i was going too fast so i could not control it, and i went down on the left side, i slid for a good 20ft and the bike about 50ft, i was going around 40, the good thing is that it didnt hit anything and i had alot of space within the cars behind me, so they all stoped when they saw me fall, as soon as i stoped sliding i ran to pick up my bb, some ppl got out of theyr cars to help me and also cuz i hat like 500 in my back poquet so they were picking up the money, i was feeling weak so one guy helped me pick the bike up and push it to the side, at the moment i didnt feel any that much pain so i fixed the mirror as it wast leting me steer the bike, got on and went back home, i didnt wanna see the bike so i parked in the garage and took a shower.

well the bad thing is that i got a bad road rash all over my left forearm as my jacket's sleave somehow didnt protect it, and me kneed also got messed up cuz i wasnt wearing knee pads, and for the bike well the front cowl broke, the mirror got really scrached, clutch lever, grip, frame slider bended (good thing it didnt break the frame), middle fairing got scrached bad, lower colw looks melted, stator cover got scharched, exhaust got schached too, and rear footpeg got sut in half.... total of $4000 worth in parts.

the good thing is that everyone is going down soner or later, and i guess it was my time and nothing mayor happened to me, and we go down so we can rise again better, so insurance paid, my wounds r healing, and this week has been like my bday almost daily, as i have been ordering parts that would have taking me a long time to get, this include:
- pcv
- bmc air filter
- brooks s-ahead
- all cf fairings
- frame rails (incase it happens again...)
- rt mirrors
- hid lights
- blade levers
- stencion blocks
- chain
- brake line
- lovering links
- foot pegs
- rt grips
- vortex rear sproket

so ill be posting pics of the b4 and after, instalation of parts, and everything else.

Who sourced the carbon fiber top cowl, if you don't mind telling? I got most of mine from MDI (Japan).

In any case, have fun getting your headlamp assembly to fit, and your mirrors. I hope they didn't have as much mold shrink as the one I got did.

privateer i got it from eastcarbon's ebay site, there is only two ppl in the worl tha make it and they r both in japan, and i just did a test fitting yesterday and its ok, the only thing that a had a little problem with was mirrors and the plastic tray that goes under the lights, and yes everything is a really thight fit. and i also took more pics but ill start another topic in the how tos, as ill be rebuilding most of the bike.

also privateer did u use any pads behind the fairings as i dont want the xtra weight, but also dont want everything moving at high speed, and how does the carbon hold to the heat?

I'll say one thing about those stock cans...they will save the bike from more serious damage depending on the crunch.I know....don't ask.

Are you sure you didn't scuff a rim? I think you should get some BSTs to go with the fairings.

iknow rook... the first quote came from one of the insurance guys and it was like 3/4 of the actual quote so i went to diferent places and got the most expencive quote and submited it to the insurance so they would pay more, after that i just told them to send me the check and got all my parts, and even have some money left.. no deductible paid.

and yes tose bst r great but i first have to lower and strech the bike for them to make sence... but maybe next year i hit somehing without noticing and mess up my rims... who knows wut destiny has prepared... lol.
