Grn...my deepest sympathies. I hate to add on, but it helped me at the time somehow to hear of other losses. I lost my Mom two years ago last Christmas. I drove 1000 miles through the night to reach her bedside and hold her hand as she took her last breath. Though she couldn't speak at the time, I'm sure she knew I was coming and waited for me. I was devastated and still am at times, but my Mother and YOUR Mother will live forever in you and your heart. It looks like maybe our Mothers were close in age, and I have always taken some solace in that. I have friends who have lost their wives at 40 to cancer etc leaving small children. I only say that to say that God gives us whatever time on earth we are supposed to have, and then he takes us home. I have to believe that can't be a bad thing. Yet you will miss her. Hopefully her memories will make you smile and she will live on through you.

My condolences Grn. My mom is 88 now, so far she is still independent and healthy but I don't spend enough time with her. Take care of yourself and we'll be here for you.

Sorry to hear about your loss Grn. All I can say is time will help. I lost my Mom and Dad and older brother years ago, so I can relate.

Sorry for your loss Grn. As some have already said, we cannot all agree all the time. Know that will it will get easier, but you will never forget. As it should, and needs to be.

Sorry for your loss. We lost our Mom 2 days after Thanksgiving 7 years ago. It's sad that life has to throw us (well me for sure) a serious curve ball to remember that STUFF isn't what life is truly about.

Just came across this and thought you may find some comfort in reading.

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone"

Gone where?

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"

And that is dying.

Thank You wf.I actually have that ...hospice gave that to me at the last few weeks of Mom's life here.You've reminded me again of my journey with my mom.Been thinking about that alot lately.It's okay...thank you.I wish I could have done something,anything to turn this ugly disease around...but I couldn't.I know I couldn't in my head...but my heart is still breaking for her.

I used to sit with her on the couch...my arm around her..and tell her 'Mom I love you"...she'd say the same back...and then put her head on my shoulder and tell me Thank God for you.She had at that point lost most of her ability to recognize me or anyone/thing around her.But somehow I think she knew me...a small sliver of knowing...those times sad as they were...were my only way to comfort her...I miss her very much.Thanks again WoF.
