You mean a Z1000? Nice looking bike but I'd go smaller if you really want to go nuts. Specially if you are keeping the 14.
I would have a very hard time picking right now. we just turned a corner in the performance dept with the arrival of the S1000RR Bimmer. It will be a bit more clear what is best to own in the future. However, most of us may mot be able to afford what is best in the future. Whatever is cheapest is prob the best way to go if it suits your needs right now.
Personally, I'm not worried about what is best. "Best" is too small a margin of improvement from year to year. I'd never know the dif. I'd take a used 600 - 1000 sportbike that had good reviews and was now very cheap and in great condition. Unfortunately, any additional bike is far from the forfront of my mind. Bigger fish to fry right now and one too manny bikes than I know what to do with already.

I have no idea what my next bike might be, but I'll tell ya' what I wouldn't mind having.
Gimmie a M109R with a turbo on it. A bad ass cruiser other than a MAX would be fun for all the straight roads around here.

Did you see the "Class of 2010" Shootout with all the European exotic bikes? I think you're OK with any relatively late model Literbike (last 5 years or so) and then set it up the way you want it. The Beemer may not be as all powerful on the track as the European press was wanting us to believe. It may have won the Masterbike with an all European cast of riders but over here in North America it has failed to set anywhere near the fastest lap times in the motorcycle press showdowns. The dynamic traction control can be intrusive and annoying (who wants to cut power just as you get a good wheelie going) it doesn't handle as well as some of the other bikes, brakes are not the best in class and the U.S. model is electronically neutered on top end to meet noise emissions. The power curve nose dives at 12,500 rpm on the dyno at 174 rear wheel hp, still impressive but a late model ZX-10 with an Akra full system will more than match it on top whilst stomping it on low and midrange. As we've seen, you can buy brand new '08, '09 ZX-10Rs all day long for under $9000 drive out. Try that with a Beemer, more like $16-17K with tax, title and license thrown in.
Ok, back to the subject, I think I would have to spring for the Ducati 1198S, very sexy machine and now a match for anything on the track. The Duc would have beat out the APrilia RSV4 at the "Class of 2010" shootout if it hadn't have had a shifter malfunction.
This streetfighter would be way cool also:

Ready for the razzin... I will probably go back to a cruiser and it will probably be a Harley something in the Fatboy family or maybe a Streetglide so the wife can feel comfie ridin with me.... I ride a Road King for work, never had interest in a Harley until I started ridin that Road King..... People say Harley's are only good for straight riding but when you actually learn to ride slow they can turn on a dime and are very versatile.... and you can learn them over pretty good obviously not as good as our bike or the litre bikes..... Bring on the razzin!! I also get a chub when I see an m109R..... I wish I cud afford to have both, but I can't so the 14 will suit me for a few more years!!!

Maybe a wide glide. I will always want a sport tourer. But a new cruiser is in the cards. I know . I know its a Harley. but remember Harley aren't as bad as most folks think or as good as some folks think. They just touch a live nerve with bikers pro and con.

When I had my ZX-14, I always wanted a liter bike. My 14 was totaled. Now, I own a ZX-10R and LOVING IT! I went down one tooth on the front sprocket, PC3 with Ivans map, Ignition Module and the TRE9 to disable the KIMS (traction control). I still have the stock exhaust, but planning on changing that in the future. The performance is simply unbelievable! Real happy with the liter bike.
I do miss my ZX-14. So, in a few years, I plan on getting another one.

I don't want to start another Harley bashing thread but it is getting a little ridiculous around where I live. Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, has a Harley. I'm not talking about the accountant, the rich investment banker or the guy who owns the Ford dealership here either. I'm talking about ordinary guys who can't rub two nickels together and they're saddled with a $23,000 loan for umpteen gizillion years to pay off their 883 Twin Cam FLDCH or whatever and all the chromed, boat anchor doo dads. I took a year of economics in college and there's this thing called the law of supply and demand. It says if there's too much of something around (like sand) it won't be worth much but if something is relatively rare (like gold) it will have more value. It defies logic how the price of these things stays high when they're as common as potting soil. I see guys around here trying to sell 5 year old Harleys for more than I can buy a new one for. Yes, I have "Stupid" tattooed on my forehead and I'll be glad to buy your Harley. I predict this is going to turn out to be the last bubble of the great bubble era. When this sucker pops you won't be able to give a Harley away.

That's okay because because even when they have it paid off, new Harleys will still be made to look and perform exactly as they did in 1940.

Harley bashing like the above is unfair when you look at the facts.
1 Harley sells half the bikes in this country every year. Many of the buyers have been riding for many years. they like the dependability, style, handling and fit and finish compared to other cruisers. Not sportbikes! cruisers. To sell that many bikes it has to be a good solid product.
2 the prices for harleys are competitive with the Jap and Euro cruisers
3 Many of the arguments as to hp and handling go to the fact they are cruisers not sportbikes.
4 If you want to spend a ton of money on chrome or upgrades that is not a problem with the bike it is with the buyer.
5 Harleys do not perform like a 40s bike they have antilock brakes, a modern frame and can cruise at 85 thru the rockies 2 up. They have the best brakes of any cruiser that is made and the power is competitive and they get an honest 45 mpg. They are hands down the best handling cruiser at low speeds and with the new frame go thru the twisties as well or better than any cruiser sold.
6 While the harley owners have their share of overspending posers so do the zx14 and sportbike owners. Many of the owners of Harleys put real miles on there bikes and pay list or less when they buy them.

I wish! Ivan is on the East Coast, I live on the West Coast. I am running his Akra map that he emailed me.
"Needs pipe = Kruz has a Brand New SWEET Akrapovic TI still in the box. Maybe, sell?"
Sounds like a great idea!
