I used a -8.8 percent factor in my speedo healer with stock gears and went out and measured a mile using the local hiway markers and did a time test and measure test and found that -8.8 percent made it totally accurate.
I also backed this up with my escort radar detector that has a gps feature and found that it matched exact.
So -8.8 percent for a stock geared zx14 is a magic number to install

Your correction ratio depends on what speed you check it at, if your gps says 65 and your speedo says 70 that would be 7.1, if you check it at 80 the ratio will be less at 6.2. At 75 MPH my 14 read 80 and with the 42 rear sprocket the correction ratio was 8.6 total. When checked with GPS it was right on the money at every speed. Scott is correct when you check the speed at 70 and your speedo reads 5 MPH fast. You cant use your odometer as a guide now because it will actualy read a little less miles than you have actualy traveled ( that might be a good thing ) but the speedo will be right. Ted checked his at 60 MPH if the gps whould have been reading 55 that would have been 8.2.

i got the -7% off the heal-tech site(makers of speedo healer) for those that are mathmatically challenged like myself lol i held my bike at 100mph(by speedo) then watch gps it read 92mph so my bike is off -8% my gearing is stock and tire is stock height but a 200 wide wouldnt think that has any bearing on it. The ratio does not change through the speedo range if its 8% off at 100mph its 8% off at 25, 55, or 75mph
btw buck i got the grommets thanks a bunch

The side wall might be slightly taller on that 200 tire. You are right 100 and 92 = -8.0 sounds like you got it down! What did you think of the clamp Idea instead of the grommet on the back line. If I can find a black clamp around here I think I will do it that way.

I snaked mine up between the harness at the clutch lever/switch housing area. The speedohealer I mounted with a ziptie right down at the left ram duct, but accessible from the side of the ignition.Mine is set at -12.5(I'm pretty sure).190/50 tire on the rear....16/42 gearing. It is right on the money at every speed.(that setting came off the speedohealer website).

I had mine there for EVER...then,just recently, thought I'd change it up a bit.See that gap in the triple tree clamp there?Where the bolt tightens down?I slipped it right in there, button up(natch),and took a small piece of electrical tape and taped across that gap.Worked perfect.Inconspicuous but accessible.Better than "flopping" right there at the side part.

Here's mine. TSM button is routed to front right of instrument panel. Just hanging there peeking out but I will be fabbing a small bracket so it fits up there on the traingle with the dimples on the ram air cover.
It seems to me that with the 190/55 tire and the 17/45 gearing, my speedo seems to be running SLOW. Makes sense>>>bigger tire bigger sprocket = wheel turns fewer times to maintain a given speed. ok. So, when I go to the Speedohealer website and do the calibration for standard 17/41 gearing and standard 190/50 tire recalibrated for current 17/45 gearing and 190/55 tire I get -11.0% (that is with +5.5% speedo error compensation)
That sounds like my speedo will be indicating 11 percent slower? WTF? I guess I will just do as the calibrator suggests and see what happens but does -11.0% sound right?
