FS 07 OEM Header
06/23/09 2:16 PM

The stock header from my 07 is for sale.
Removed from the bike at around 1K miles and in mint shape.

Any Gen2 owners want to go with slip-ons and the catless and much lighter 07 header?

Thanks

Stan

Maybe me since I can't afford full system anytime soon... do you know how much lighter it is? Any price estimate?

Well the 08-09 is roughly 8-9 lbs. heavier,
and it only has an extra cat in the header.

You'll also be able to go with a cheaper set of Gen1 slip-ons,
used or new.

Shoot me an email

'06-'07 header is 9.5 lbs
'08-'09 header is 11.5 lbs

'06-'07

'08-'09

Is the cat in the 08-09 gutted out?

I thought that the Gen2 is heavier due to the added cat.

Not to my knowledge. It is 1minerman's, however. Don't know why he would have gutted it though. He replaced it with a full system.

Some of the additional weight of the gen2 could be the casting process of the frame and swingarm too... but really.... I dunno???

The gen2 is around 9 lbs. heavier,
looked at some old threads briefly.

Flow is the key! Hub has a Gen1 header on his silver 08, take his word for it

Should have started this thread in General zx14...

So... since I'm a noob... stock header = better flow = more power? We talking what, 5hp or so?

Mass, I will be working on my bike this weekend, adding HIDs and such... I can go ahead and take off the stock header if it's not a hard job to do, and weigh it. How's that? Can you hold it for me until then?

Gut it or replace it is my $0.02
The header alone won't do much.
You'll need mapping and slip ons to get that power bump

Will do
