Looking for New Exhaust
04/27/13 3:35 PM

Fellow 14 riders I'm on the fence about a new exhaust, I currently have V&H CSONES slip-ons installed. I particularly like Brocks CT Dual exhaust, but at $2295 that's hard to come by. Anyone with this exhuast that has there bike dyno'd please post your results. Please just 06 thru 11 zx-14's that's because we all know the 2012-13 our in a different league.

As a matter of fact anyone with any full exhaust sys please post I would like to compare results to help with my decision.

If looking for a pipe that's not to expensive,,,, Muzzy won the Dyno Pipe shoot outs according to the rags. 2300 dollars for the Brock's is huge doe, but they sure are nice.

Call Ivan, Akrapovic 13 hp I do believe ?

Baankheadd,

I have a Brock CT Dual Titanium right side mid pipe and right side CT Muffler. It has two tanks of gas thru it....with the Brock exhaust it removed 40 pounds from my stock bike, I got his PC and BMC race filter and got about 18 HP all total.

The right side mid pipe and right muffler are for sale. I also had the mid pipe HOT JET coated in North Carolina to seal the steel and make it run a bit cooler....

I dropped it on the right side scratching the exhaust can so it has some scratches, but it cosmetic only. I got a new one installed I have only two tanks of gas 447 miles thru it, so it is mint condition everywhere else. Has NO affect on the HP performance

So, I have this very expensive Brock midpipe and exhaust for sale. So, my loss will be your gain.

$500.00 to your door. I have over $2200.00 invested in this exhaust and it is the very best money can buy!

Let me know if you are interested can send you some pics with your e mail address. I take PayPal.

Please send pic's to Bankheadd@hotmail.com
P.S I'm looking on Brocks site now, If I'm correct the midpipe is between the headers and muffler on that system Rt? So I would still need to purchases headers and a left side muffler? Not sure how this is going to save me money, what did you pay for your replacement parts? I am interested.

I've discussed this at length a million times. Brocks CT is best but I would go with the meg. A bit smaller and probably lighter. Looks great. Compare dyno charts at Brock's site, the CT dual did have the best performance from across the board back when I was looking at these.

Akrapovic Evo is a favorite also. Go for lightweight as much as dyno ##. If you buy a Brock's or Akra Evo CF, you will be covered in both dept.

Don't worry about losing performance with a 4-2-1. That was my big concern that that lack of backpressure would make he bike feel weak at low rpm. Not the case at all. My pipe has a gaping exit with no baffles and basically no packing. The reduction in low end power can't be noticed if it is there. If you are into sport riding and racing, there is no reason to concern yourself with whatever small increase in power the stock bike might have at 15 mph. If a full system bike slips his clutch on you that will be all over in about 20 feet.

If finances are a concern, just get any used full system you can get your hands on. A used pipe will work just as good as new as long as it is not rusted or bent/dented. I got mine cuz it was on sale (and always liked the look). I still love it.

Rook thanks for the info, I guess what it's boiling down to is the looks & preformance... mostly the looks. I just can't get enough of that dual exhaust lookit makes the 14 look complete. Goldwingmann want's to sale part of a exha ust system but when I called Brock the tech guy told that it's cheaper to just buy the system new because with the parts I told him I needed he gave me a quote of $2400. I'm waited to here back from goldwingmann to get some details about where he got he's replacement prts from.

Good luck.. Brock is the way to go. Looks are totally subjective but you won't be sitting back wondering if you did the right thing if you buy a Brock's. Great map support too.

I also favored the look of duals which was a mark against a full system. this was back in '08 before CT Duals were being made. I accepted the 4-2-1 look of the full system over slipons and soon got used to it. That's the race look. I now prefer it to duals.

Hey bankheadd
Not sure if you saw my post on the Hindle Race Header and SMEG. It is essentially the same thing as the Brocks SMEG as Hindle is making his headers anyways - Just a different sticker. I have the 20" system - I too was of the duals look better camp, but can honestly say that I LOVE the look of my bike with that SMEG on it now. Not only did it remove actual weight from the bike, but visual weight as well. The sound is incredible and the looks are awesome. You will not be disappointed with this setup. Here is a pic if you missed the other thread...

zx-14beast your bike looks awsome with that exhaust. I would've never consider Hindle but that looks very nice. Do you have more pic's? please post them. Do you have Dyno results?

Haven't been to a dyno yet - I'm told it should be 180ish + or - a few at the tire. Once the weather warms up a little it is something I will do. I'll post some more pics once I get home tonight - I can't see how you would be unhappy with this exhaust - It looks awesome in person, and the sound is incredible - the bike definately sounds the biz with this setup. Even once first started and on high idle this thing is pumping air out that would make your pants blow - never mind once you crack it... It is the race header that is 2" and stepping up to 2.25 after the flange. (big primary's)

Not sure if you noticed : but, I removed the lower fairing that goes behind the stock slip ons - In my opinion if you're not running duals it looks out of place when looking from the left side and no exhaust hanging between it and lower fairing. That cleaned up the looks too. It's amazing as I said how much visual weight the bike lost by removing the duals the passenger pegs and that under fairing piece.

Yeah, it looks like you can't get this system anymore. You will have to get directly from Brocks. They are identical anyways - just a different plate. The one on mine is considered the 20" SMEG. Sorry dude. The guy I got it from had two sitting around for awhile, and I just got his last one. I texted him this am. to see if he had anymore, but no dice.

Welcome to the club...CT duals, the only way to fly! You such a tease... you could have removed the packaging... the pipe map combo is going to make a huge difference like Brock said after tuning a guy's S'1000RR ..."be careful driving home", in your case leaving the garage LOL,

BTW, I have installed the included Air Hose Plug but I was still getting some backfire (gargle and pop), especially when the weather was humid. After doing the block off plates, I only get the gargle which I kinda like. A lot of race bikes do it to.

My pipe is too loud to have all the popping. It was just a bit too much for me + if you want to use auto tune, you will need to block off the clean air hose. Might as well do it. It's a 7.05 oz weight reduction topremove the PAIR and instal Muzzy Blockoff plates. ...but just blocking the hose and leaving in the switch valve will help.

Could be worse Rook, your pipe could Exit directly under your right ear. Makes for the perfect Advil commercial. I could not handle that gurgle as I'm sure I could hear each of the spark plugs fire lol.

We can fix, but gear # in display is gone. I never looked at it any way and I still search for 7th gear lol
