Not sure if I'm going to do anything else to the bike, may try an Akra Race exhaust and PC down the road. I doubt I would spring for an Evo again, way too much money.
Ahhhhhhhhhh, Kruz, these are swear words, Go to your Room......lol. If anything this bike begs for even lighter weight. You know, Rims, Battery + Ceramic bearings and don't forget PIPE PIPE PIPE PIPE. What is it, 17lbs off in one shot. You must. This is Blassss Fa ME, I'm having break down. You must. No ? Sorry slipped out LOL. I'll bet faster in your sweeper again. Try mine. Hook will set. I promise.

Romans, that integrated tail light looks great, good thing you don't have to have the goofy inspection sticker dangling off the rear like we do here in Texas. I've tried moving it to the swingarm but got pulled over by an LEO. Anyway, I blacked mine out and added the plate light, looks mucho better than that huge fender thingie it came with.

Yer right romans, I will prolly end up springing for an Evo Titanium system for the 6R...it deserves no less than the best! BTW, I'm taking the day off work Friday to install the EVO, PCIII and the rest of Ivan's goodies on my 10R. I imagine it's going to run like a raped ape or a scalded baboon at least...

I was going to sneeeek over and install while you slept. Gremlins u know.

Looks better in black for sure. I chose the set up from hot bodies due to the ease of plate removal(no wires). Two small bolts down through tool kit holder is all that holds the plate bracket. Looked hard at the competitionwerkes set up but cops here are giving out tickets for this set up. 125.00 ouch.

I was going to sneeeek over and install while you sleptI'll leave the light on for you out out in the garage! Seriously though, I still having flashbacks to that Yoshimura RS-5 fiasco on my CBR. I was ready to drive out to California and burn it on their corporate doorstep. Anyway, I finally got that bastiche to fit but it was a wrestling match and I destroyed several exhaust gasket sets in the process. Not looking forward to that kind of experience again. I spent the big bucks this time, maybe this one will actually fit. Full report on Monday if everything goes well, from what I hear this setup turns the 10 into an absolute missile!

That won't happen. Fits like a glove. Don't tighten header bolts until the full system is installed on bike. The 14 I had to remove rad(or wanted to). The 6 there was lots of room maybe 10 is the same. No worry about folding fins, yaaaaa.
I still having flashbacks to that Yoshimura RS-5 fiasco on my CBR.
Don't know that story. Sounds Yuk-E.
Here is one for ya. I removed my old system before the Povic showed up, rad and all(wanted to be ready for long weekend). New system shows up but when I went to install, Nothing fit, I did not read the sticker on packaging that said R1 Ahhhhhh. Old system back on, rode the weekend then back off again. I could have cried. Sooooooooo,,,,, just a story now. But the cost was high.
In 2011 I'm going to start reading directions,,,I hope.

Short story version, last July I ordered up a Yoshi RS-5 for the CBR. I had agonized over getting the Akra Race but finally went with the Yoshi because of the $400 price difference, big mistake, you usually get what you pay for.
I could only get three of the four headers to line up with the cylinder flanges, #2 through 4. #1 was in it's own parallel universe, pointing off in an entirely different direction. What should have been a 3 hour job tops turned into an all day ordeal wrestling that bastiche on there. #1 exhaust gasket was mangled in the process and I had a severe exhaust leak.
A week later, another set of exhaust gaskets came in and I pulled the whole system back off and started over. We have a granite surface table back in quality assurance that we use to check accuracy of our parts and tooling. We could not get the headers to line up on the surface plate...no way! I called Yoshi and they said to box it back up and send it in for a rejigging. I just went through this with the slipons they sent me for the 14 so I was pissed and decided I was going to make this thing fit or else die trying. With the aid of a buddy we lined up #2 through 4 and then he pried #1 into a semblance of alignment with a two by four while I torqued everything down. It seems to have worked, engine runs like a scalded baboon (after trying three different maps it pulls like my flies out 14 on low end), sounds awesome and has that polished Yoshi look..the best IMHO.
I'll keep buying Yoshis because of the looks and sound but their quality control is pathetic. This is my first Akra, fingers are crossed this goes a whole lot better.

Don't feel bad, 5 of the LEDs on my new right hand turn signal on the 6R burned out in the first 50 miles....aaargh! Almost half the stinkin' array, left ones fine though. Good news, the seller is going to ship me another turn signal for free, stuff happens. Usually, if electronic stuff is going to fail, it fails in the first few hours of operation. After that they usually make it to the design MTBF. If they burn out again I'll buy a set of the Lockhart-Phillips carbon-look jobbies I put on my 10R. Hey, it's all just part of the game.

No word from Kruz. I think he's just busy. Maybe hasn't had a chance to get the pipe on there yet. I saw he was on FB a few days ago so I'm sure he's fine. You do wonder when someone abruptly vanishes for no apparent reason.

Just checkin in, Rook's right, been really busy running a training seminar here in Dallas all week. Romans, I did not get the pipe on last Friday as planned, I had to get ready for the seminar and got caught up in a time crunch. Am shooting for an install tomorrow morning... if I can get her done I'll post a write up and pics. BTW, 1Bad called last night and was wondering if I was OK LOL... I guess I did kind of drop off the face of the planet for awhile there.

Hmmmmmm.....Reeves Reeves comes to mind here , he was a regular poster on here and the ZX-6R forum for years and then.......vanished! Just disappeared.... no one's ever seen or heard from him since.

Hey folks, I'm up to my elbows in ZX-10R exhaust parts, it's all off there. Now comes the hard part, shoehorning the AKRA on there. I'll post up some pics later, stock exhaust weighs a ton, I'm guessing 25 lbs, header alone weighs more than the entire Evo system.

Stock exhaust with heat shield weighed 26.06 lbs. The Akra weighed 9 lbs for a maximum savings of over 17 lbs, I left the heat shield off as the exposed mid pipe looks really cool as heathas turned it to indigo blue. I didn't have time to get the PCIII and TRE on there but with stock ECU mapping the bike is way stronger. Low end is stout and the midrange wallop is arm stretching, the big hit comes at around 6000 rpm and goes all the way to redline.
I'll post pics later this morning along with some additions to the Akra installation manual that will save a lot of time and aggravation to anyone installing one of these systems.
I weighed each individual component of the stocker on our company postage scales and here were the results:
End Cannister 8.7lbs
Headers 11.28 lbs
Catalyst and Midpipe 5.5 lbs
Heat Shield .58 lbs
Total 26.06 lbs
Akrapovic Evolution titanium/carbon fiber 9lbs total
Difference 17.06 lbs
