You need to unlock the seat latch and take the whole seat off. Lay the seat upside down on a blanket and there are 4 screws on the underside to remove. Then the cowl slides right off. Kind of a pain if you want to take it on and off often.

Ah yes, I must have lost mine! or maybe I robbed those ones to replace washers on the visible fasteners as they became lost. My seat cowl bolts have been replaced with Pr-Bolts for a few years now. Pro-Bolts come with black plastic washers if you get dome heads or you can buy washers from them. Ace Hardware will have nylon washers. If you but OEM, might a well buy a lot because they disappear.

Thanks Rook, I downloaded an owners manual this morning and saw that same procedure in it, I just didn't see the latch under the seat yesterday to release it. At least I know where to look for it now. Thanks again
