Yep, picked up a front in sc2 based on the Pirelli application graphic for later season track days this summer.
We'll see how my CH Hanson valve tip paint marker holds up.

Rookster, not sure you should swap the steel Caliper mounting bolts for AL. The entire braking load transfers through that bolted joint in a shear load. Al shear capability is significantly less than steel. I wouldn't risk that for that small weight savings unless you are replacing the AL bolts after each track or hard braking session. Maybe Titanium but not AL.

WHAT!!
?
No Pirelli logo? If it's on there, would do that in yellow after the tire gets installed to the rim.

Yes, have been considering the install first and the logo also. Just couldnt stand it, had to try it out. Man I went so far as to call the manufacturer, actually talked to a person @ CH Hanson ( an Illinois based co.) asking if it was in fact oil based. Literally got nothing. This person anyway didnt know shit. Having a hard time finding a rear in SC0... what is the deal with this SC V2 designation? All the vendors have those and STG has SC1 and SC2 in a 200/55 but I am actually looking for a 190/55-17 SC0 and finding ZILCH. Grrrrr

CRUDE!!!!!
As it turns out, ol' boy I have amassed a box full o stickers.
Regettably no Pirelli stickers though. Should any readers have a sticker fetish like I did during the chopper years- Redbubble was my go to online spot for any flavor or topic. I was a Foghorn Leghorn, Ren & Stimpy / hard rock bands kinda guy.

I would go with the 200/55 if you think it will fit. I will measure my swing arm for you if you like.

Sure seems like an 8mm bolt would take a lot of stress as long as it's tight. Then again, there is about 40mm of shank going through the caliper. That could cause a lot of leverage. I will probably stick with the Ti I already have.
Aren't there tubular sleeves that align the calipers that the bolts go through? Don't these effectively give you the sheer strength of two 12mm bolts on each caliper?

I have a dead on shot of the hole in my Gen1 caliper and it looks like it's just drilled through the caliper...but impossible to say for sure without removing it. Even if there were steel sleeves in the caliper, that would not seem to strengthen the bolt.

The pic at the top of this thread is a set of Supercorsas in SC1 I purchased from STG. Supercorsas can be had in all three compounds, but I am struggling to find a 190/55-17 rear in SC0. What is available everywhere is this SP V2 model which my cursory research says is a two compound street tire that has amazing grip once up to temp on the track. I am still left wondering how this version compares to the SC0, SC1 designations. The slicks you refer to are the Superbike models, right? Seems like they are a thing of the past unless you order them from the UK and pay the considerable shipping fees.
I had it in mind to try the Metzeler Racetec RR. Might give a set of those a whirl for the hot season runs later this year. Pirelli is making my head hurt.
CRUDE!!
Was that "flair" comment an obscure movie reference to Office Space?
And yeah, I might be hiding a few scratches on the right side w some strategic "flair"

Super Corsa comes in the "SP" and the "SC"
The SP is the street/track version and as far as I know it is
equal to the SC2 compound does not have diff compunds.
The SC is the DOT race tire. I would be surprised
if you find a SC0 compound for the rear.
Most peeps run SC1 front and SC2 rear or SC2 front and rear for
track days.
SC2 rear probably last 2-3 track days.
You will probably get 2 to 1 rear to front. SC0 to soft, you would
just chew it up on the rear.
I've run the SP's and can get just short of 3 track days and
they're shot. They don't last very long.
I now run the Bridgestone S21's for track days on the zx10 and on
the 14 for the street. Saves around $200 a set.
I really like the S21's. Run around $220 a set rebates in spring usually bring
down to $170 a set.
There's a lot of good tires out there.
Try different compounds and see what you like, If it where me, I'd
start with the SC1 front and SC2 rear.
The 14 is going to burn up rear tires fast.

PIKEN!!!
Thanks Bro. That was a pile of great intel right there. I aim to try those S21's.
Prob give The Dunlap Q3's a go as well. I will get an SC2 rear to finish this 2nd set of Pirellis.
Thanks again man.

I have been corresponding with Dave Moss for the last few weeks. Great resource and really seems like a cool guy that is seriously into track/ race/ riding/ tuning. Taking some DM advice to heart, I am going to try some Dunlop soft compound slicks later this summer when it is firecracker hot. The first participant showed up tonight.

How about that??? I was going to use the same tire. It should be a good alternative to the Pirelli Diablo Superbike Pro. Low track temps, no tire warmers, extended wear. Those will be great for the street and better for the track but they won't last long.
now if I can come up with some cash for a set of these somehow. Probably isn't going to happen. I think this summer will be the summer of wrenching. About time, really. Lotsa stuff needs replacing.

Yep, Dave’s advice is based on the Dunlops being a stiff carcass tire. He says the Pirellis and Michellins are soft carcass tires. The weight of our machines along with being 200+ lb pilots has us benefitting from the stiff sidewall. The Dunlops and Pirellis share the same temp range to compound use catergory.
Where as Bridgestone and Metzeler have an opposite setup- theirs is use hard compounds with hot track temps.

I'd trust Dave Moss' advice but IMHO, the Pirellis I have used felt very stable in a corner even at really low psi. I went down to 25 psi on the Superbike Pros and it was no problem. Maybe the slightest bit squishy at very low speed only...of course I've taken a lot of weight off the bike and I'm not exactly a heavyweight at 200-215 lbs.
