Service manual,pg.3-39(personally,I never trust luck). pgs 3-29 thru 3-36 give the symptoms/solutions.Pgs 3-42 thru 3-44 give the CODE-problem/solution.

Yes-I understand that deal-NOW.A trained mechanic "probably" would have deduced that the timing was messing up somehow.Especially since the sensor seemed okay.THAT WAS a waste of money on my part-yes.But I had NO idea that my timing wheel would loosen. And probably even a trained mechanic would perhaps have "some" difficulty figuring it out not knowing the wheel was an add-on,aftermarket deal.So yeah,"well hidden" is a good way to describe a "package deal" of symptoms when it doesn't say in the manual-THIS WILL CAUSE THIS.Kind of like trying to connect the dots.I think that's one great thing about this forum-people share what is happening or not happening when something is going on that they're trying to figure out.And the combined responses can usually illuminate the root cause. It certainly may NOT be spelled out in the manual-that's for sure. You know-the book talks about the cam sensor, and code, and also the crank sensor, and code. And a couple of related other symptoms.Matching the behavior to the other "variables"(in this case),a sharp person who understands ignition and such could probably "get" what it was. But I don't remember seeing anything in that topic in the manual about "checking the timing".Probably because they're not considering the stock, factory installed wheel-which will probably NEVER loosen on it's own.Looking back-the thrown codes were actually correct. The cam position WAS out of line. And all the riding and starting and running behavior was completely consistent with timing being out.If she had started PINGING-THEN....I probably would have been able to get the right answers from you guys here-I'm sure someone would have suggested"how's the timing doing?".It's all good.Only like 26 dollars to replace.I just hope it helps someone else here along the way.Better use RED LOCTITE on yer MUZZY advancers ya'll!!!!
