In a beginners group at a track day- any bike will do. The pace allows for everyone to learn the limes and braking points and it's not competitive by any means, overtaking is prohibited in most cases.
Same in the intermediate although the pace will be significantly quicker.
The pace of the blue groups at TTD around here will demand a lightweight bike though, and with proper track set up. You will also need slicks, properly dialed (and resprung) suspension and some of those Vesrah rjls.

There are some videos around from fast tracks with gen2 Busa tearing it up,
but nothing that a 1000 can't do.

Masszx14 what org do you ride with Nesba and STT allow passing at all levels granted the B groups have more restrictions. Rook I have a buddy in Alsip IL that did his first few track days on his zx14 and always ran at the front of B. He got a an 08 zx10 and he is still in B.The fact that he bought a bike better suited for the purpose didn't make him a better rider at all.... faster yes better no that would explain why he is still in B. I’ll be doing my first track day at Barber in March with STT and several more with NESBA to included Road America. I'll be with a group of guys that I ride with on the street that also ride track with skill levels ranging from brand new to the track (that would be me) to A level riders in NESBA. Go hereNESBA and join the forum (free) you will be shocked by the number of people willing to help a newbie out with any questions or even getting your bike to the track. No one gives a shit about what model bike you have. Some of the Control Riders are AMA level racers I can't think of an organization that will offer you that level of free on track instruction for a $75 dollar membership charge and track days ranging in price from 150 to 205 dollars per day depending on the venue. I can't wait

Mass, we call those people on the liters your talking about "scream and parks" at the track. Scream down the straight away and park it in the corner.

I'll take a 600 over anything else for a trackday.

I'll take my gsxr 750 in full race trim- it's actually so overdone now that I can't even enter with it in the SS classes.
Willi, I'm aware of the passing rules at trackdays. Even in the advanced group you're not allowed to challenge someone for a braking line or a turn entrance, basically you're not allowed to dive on the inside of a turn like you would see in a competitive race. If you have more go on the straights or on the outside of an entrance/ exit-
you overtake completely by the rules. Either way the track officialls will keep an eye and make sure you allow the slower rider enough room and don't force them out of their lines.

TonyTrackdays is where I started in Loudon NH and Thunderbolt NJ (NJMP).
