Well, it's July so it must be time for World Superbike at Laguna Seca!!!!
Got on the road at 5:30 am on Friday. My wife volunteered to work the gift shop from 8-12 and as a result we got 3
FREE weekend tickets! Whoo hoo!! Decided to park in the pits even though I didn't have the $40 (!) parking pass. The guy at the pit entrance wasn't very happy with me but I convinced him to let me in to drop the wife off. I promised to bring the bike right back out...Yeah, that ain't happening.
So a choice parking spot and I wandered around the pits and turn 3 and the front straight all morning. After the wife got up we went to the vendor area to look at gear. Nice stuff.
My friend rented a house off Hwy 68 about 3 miles from the track. Gated community, up a hill, gorgeous views. Sweet!
My son rode up from San Luis Obispo on his Z1000, reported that the new motor in the fuel pump seems to have fixed his problems. Yay!
So, Saturday morning we met a friend who works security and got passes for the Flagroom above turn 1 for both Saturday and Sunday. Free breakfast, lunch, and drinks along with big screen TVs and a killer view from the balcony. It's good to know the right people I tell you! That evening we all rode down to Cannery Row to take in the insanity of Bike Only night along the waterfromt. Had dinner at the Fishhopper, and then strolled around checking out the hundreds of bikes. Sunday back at the Flagroom and more great racing. Met some old friends who own Beverly Hills Ducati.
All in all a great weekend. Got to ride with my son back home so we could do some maintenance on his bike.
Timo, sorry we missed you guys. things get pretty hectic as you well know. Maybe we can set up a group gathering next year.
