Wheel spin
06/08/16 10:47 AM

So I've only been riding 1 year & I just bought a 07 zx14 & I cannot get it to spin to save my life! I had at zx7 & it would spin it's ass off ... The only way I can spin is nailing it in first gear at a low speed ... It won't work in 2nd ... I took my flies out... I just don't know ... Suggestions?? I'm a rookie I know .. Before u all speak

Good to hear from you Dogo.

Tekeleft, I bet the 14will out-accelerate the ZX-7 anywhere in the power band. While the 7 is spinning, you're GONE!

Try a 45T sprocket. Also get tuned for flies out should help. If you want to wheelie or spin at 100 mph in second, I think you can do it but you're not going to get that at low rpm. If you're crazy enough, grab the brake and nail the throttle, you'll spin all day in any gear as long as you have your rpm up.

Nope. They do it all the time in the water box. I don't see why you can't do it on the road. Just be careful. I usually wheelie instead of spin but I guess that depends on tires, temperature and body position.

SLIDE your butt, LEAN the bike, TWIST the throttle. If I want to feel a little spin I take a hard corner and roll into the throttle a little harder (just a little!) than what I know I should. If you'ready for it, a slight drift can be exhilerating. I feel better doing it with some of the better street oriented race tires like Qs (now Q3, i guess) or pirelli Supercorsas. Those seem to produce a controlled feeling drift. Just be careful to stay ON the throttle because if you panic and roll off quick while going just a little too fast, you'll high side when the tire grabs traction. I had one such scare on my supercorsas and I was doing only about 40 mph. AIt was an unexpected drift and I rolled off. Bike jerked straight up but didn't go over. Pretty embarassing in front of onlookers but not as bad as taking a spill.

Another nice pic you put up there, Rob. Got any more?

When I start to get depressed about it, I just look at most of the 50 YO broads out there...and then I get more depressed!

Look at that sheen on her legs up there and how the crease under her left buttock catches just a glint of light. I'd lap her butt sweat up any day and love it. Man you got a nice close shot there, Dogo.

Plumb in a Timing Retard eliminator and get full advance in the lower gears. It'll spin.

If that's what you need, get an Ignition Module by Dyno Jet. Then you can program your whole timing curve. GET THE NUMBERS FROM A TRUSTED SOURCE like Romans. DON'T play around with timing by guesswork.

If you want to spin, get a hard compound short tire and run higher pressure than normal..
I really only came for the pics...
