Sacramento/Bay Area riders
02/27/19 11:27 AM

I just picked up my 2018 14R SE and have a serious thirst to quench finding out where the sweet rides and local twisties are at in this area. I just moved from San Diego and already I'm missing the thought of all my back roads and Palomar mountain area rides! But I know there are just as many out here to explore and learn.

When this rain stops...I'll be out there putting on the miles. Hit me up when someones' ready to show me their favorite rides ;)

@chrly I hear that... Weather definitely starting to look great... I'm waiting on HM to send my damn Quickshifter Lever. Almost 3 weeks and counting now.(Did not fit/ caused a recall)
As you probably already know...taking those fairings off the bike is probably the hardest thing about the 14 because they are so damn fragile! Lol so.... my bike is just stripped down and on stands until they send me the lever .

Oh Man ,, waiting on parts drives me bonkers..and waiting caus shipped parts are wrong is just nuts.. I just got back from Dixon a bit ago.. Had to drive the vette cause still a tiny bit dizzy and if it suddenly worsened, I would prefer 4 wheels under me instead of two.. Took the top of and got some sun tho as it is gorgeous today..

What is different about teh HM shifter than the stocker.. ? When I set up my Holeshot shifter, I just drilled teh stocker... Could you do that?

Lol Nope! That's pretty crafty I'm not that mechanically experienced. The HM Quickshifter is arguably the best on the market, they use a strain gauge system unlike other quickshifters for a more accurate reading in between shifts and what not. My first choice was to go with a translogic quickshifter because they have introduced a Adaptive Quickshifting system. It basically auto tunes itself according to how you ride in EVERY GEAR. hear really good stuff about it.. problem is they stopped caring about making it for our bikes so went with the HM Quickshifter Plus SS, has seamless shift technology. HM is sponsored and used in Motogp/MotoAmerica/World Sbk etc. .Quality stuff just expensive as hell lol! Looking forward to mounting it if HM can ever send me out a new one...Long story short my application actually came with a shift lever, would not go on the splinal rod, splines were made to small...machine malfunction at their factory. Apparently I caught the mishap...started a Recall , so they are making a new batch to send out to me and some other people recently affected. It's just taking forever. Sucks!

That stuff is way too smart for me..My Holeshot can be timed individually for each gear(longer duration ignition kill for 1 and 2 and then shorter for rest) thru my power commander. There is no allowance for tension adjustment . It is a measured adjustment made during install.. I have about a year and a half on it and teh only problems I have encountered wa accidentally bumpimg teh shift button with my winter gloves and holding my left foot in too tight and hindering teh return of the shifter.

In another five years I will be to dumb to even start a 2024 Motorcycle :)

Lol I hear ya... the technology is definitely going up!Talked to HM yesterday...they will send out my OEM shift lever back to me tommorow... gonna put the bike Back together and go test... Process is taking way long. I upgraded my chain and sprockets..gearing... have it setup for 16/43T (Stock Wheelbase) I'm chomping at the bit to see how she runs. Also took my custom shop made gp exhaust off and put on a Akrapovic GP slip on (China Copy).. so far I like it.. only swapped it because it was too LOUD!Which I like but that stupid New CA Amendment to the DB Law...was trying to comply by getting a decent exhaust with DB killer..thing rattled so I took it out.. She purrs now beautifully and has that cool whistle-like turbo effect. I have great back pressure, pretty sure I made some hp gains with the longer pipe, so I think she will fly! She still loud so screw it lol

I’m in San Francisco. Have a ‘16 ZX14R ABS-SE. I’m available on weekdays and weekends. Great routes in Marin/Sonoma County (up the coast or into the wine country), Peninsula down to Capitola, and East Bay to Livermore and then South to San Jose), or through the Delta to Sacramento. Overnight trips to the Gold Country, Monterey, or Lake Tahoe.

Also in the Bay Area, ride to Alice's a lot and have a very fun Breakfast Loop, around 175-220 miles.
Have also ridden 49, 128, 299, 29, Berryessa etc. Keep me posted when you're in the area.
