Correct. Better wear thru chemistry.

Ain't that a beautiful thing! I could blow smoke and say this is my Mobil 1 4t syn. after 3000 mi....but nah, just changed it Sun. I will say I'm loving the VERY FINE and minimal grit that the small magnet in the PCS1 racing filter, and magnetic drain plug are keeping out of the engine!

Interesting and informative read by the way Hub. Conventional Valvoline 10w-40 4 stroke motorcycle oil had surprisingly low pressure numbers and rating.

mad5674 Mark,
I see you are using a cartridge style filter. Do you feel those are better than the throw aways? What about cost? I like the idea of the magnet. I will have to source if they are available for the gen 1s.
Anyone else with feedback on this style of filter?
Dave

Testimonials from race mechanics stating much cleaner engines on tear-downs. Higher flow, tighter filtration (don't quote me, but down to 35 microns). High initial cost, close to a C note, but being reuseable for the life of the motor, I feel pays for itself. I'm sold on it!

Also Dave, pretty sure there's no difference between gen1 and gen2 filters.

Mark,
Thank you for the review and the link. Just did my oil and filter but it won't be long with spring on the way and a couple track days before I will be changing again.

Anyone else using filtration like this with pos/neg experience?

Dave

I think we did a good job deflecting this to a filter thread rather than Hubs oil war. There has to be at least three threads devoted to that subject already.

Just a small jab Hub, I know its your thread as you started it. Please forgive me.
Dave

Ready for this? Just got home from walmart and a bike accessory shop. No gear oil. While I'm at mart looking at one row of oil, guy walks by me and says more oil is over here. I find none, go down the isle, pass him and say, 'did you see any gear oil?' He says no, and now he's studying the oils. I now say, 'what are you looking for, it's just bulk oil.' Now I'm going to put it in words and what short term I lost listening, we covered a lot more subjects skimming of those shorty's.

He gives me an owner's manual quote out of the book and it says not to use syn. I go BS and now he says the dealer put some in and the engine started leaking. Then I started in with crude distilling and then he starts in with oils and additives. 200k on his engine, no syn.

About an hour or less later, come to find out he's an engineer [mechanical], but as you know, they know more than that. Had a nice schooling of fats and veggie oils are the syn additives. Explains how animal and veggie fat are pressurized and all those years, yada, yada.

And then the gas vs E cars and that little discussion. And then he chemically showed me how a carbon and hydrogen working are those two actions/reactions. And all the emissions is just water when all is said and done. And gas is not heating up the earth and shit. Saying oxy is just a [forgot his better explanation], but the oxy is just [my analogy] is just holding the door open as the hydrogen burns. Kind of is there for the other chemical to burn out.

So he adds, hydrogen and oxy is just water when both are together. Separate them and they burn to carbon? A forest burns to carbon. No danger to the earth, right?

Makes sense as I see it explained to me. Don't know if you caught it... Shoulda been there... Amazing background.

Oil = Animal and plant life... of folded over and over is dirt on top of dirt, and now is in the ground is FAT.
Syn = Add fat to fat. Compatible, right?
Olive oil = Is now in my rear end... I'm not waiting a billon more years for the shelves to fill up again.

I recall in school in the 80s, we were taught at the time that oil deposits in the ground was believed to be the results of prehistoric animal life ("fossil fuels"). We were also taught a lot of other stupid shit, like we we're entering an ice age, eggs will make your heart explode, and that humans consists of two sexes except for rare genetic anomaly's like hermaphrodites. Ain't science grand?!

Then something happened which seemed to surprise scientists. We had depleted a lot of oil deposits in the US, emptied them out, fields and fields of old pumps sit lifeless atop their dead oil fields. But then they noticed that after sitting empty for many decades...now had some oil in them again. That I recall, this sort of broke the dino theory's back, at least to the point of some considering that oil must actually come about as a result of other processes.

Scientist Says Earth's
Petroleum Supply Is
Replenishing Itself

Depleted oil pools seem to be renewing themselves inexplicably. Is petroleum a renewable resource? According to renowned scientist Thomas Gold that's just about right! Forget everything you thought you knew about fossil fuels and dinosaur remains, in an article published recently by the Washington Post, Gold explains that hydrocarbons exist abundantly deep inside the earth's core and interact biologically with other life substances to continuously produce self renewing springs of petroleum.

You don't really believe what they tell ya do you?About oil supply I mean. The KEYSTONE for one was shut off for an agenda.Oil under the US is MASSIVE.WAY bigger than they're gonna let on.As also in other countries.
Biological life has been on earth for eons. That's a LOT of petroleum.I mean A LOT.There's never gonna be a shortage in the real world. Not only that, but oil is very much like water. It flows easily at the temps it's subjected to under the crust and in the crust. It would be natural for it to refill oil fields over time.
