Gen 1 and 2 seats on 14R
01/13/12 4:15 PM

My new bike is still 2 weeks from my Garage :( so I can not answer this myself.

I am clearing out some clutter so I was wondering if my Corbin Seat from the old 14 will fit the new 14r or is it a part of my liquidation inventory.

Thanks!

It may.Gadsen put a 14R seat on his earlier 14.I wouldn't get rid of it just yet.

Yes. The Corbin seat from my 08 will fit on my 2012. My new bike came with no helmet lock system so I pulled the one off the old bike and re-keyed it. What the new bike arrived with was a hook under the seat on both sides where you would have to pull the seat off in order to use them. The Corbin seat will not fit the bike as long as those hooks are in place. The other problem is that the Corbin seat and the new seat cowl do not go together well. It matches the screw holes OK but the shape is different. If I ride with the cowl on I will use the new seat and use the Corbin seat with the cowl gone. When I take a trip I use the bike W/O cowl and also put on a passenger grab bar. The grab bar and the small plastic piece (part #36040 & #46075) that goes with my old bike also fit the 2012 just fine. I also notice that there are no tie down points at the rear of the seat as there are on my 08. Cold day today with wet roads. No ride. My new bike is 29 days with me and shows 1860 miles on the odom, my old machine has 49240. Later

Perfect!

I just use the Corbin when I have a passenger otherwise I use the stocker.

Thanks

I think the the years 06-11 should all be called gen 1. The 14 r is gen 2.

To make things more confusing, the 06-11 bike has often been referred to as the 14r to distinguish it from the Connie.
