I think the cyclists pulled off to the side when they heard a bike coming, the bike saw them and also started pulling to the shoulder to go around them. They both went to the same place to be safe. Didn't work.

He just MAY have been fixated on that babe...forgot he was in the apex of a turn?At least no one got seriously hurt...but that biker has some 'splainin to do....that's for sure.

I ride that road all time... It's the last big turn before the "turn out" at the end of the Snake section of Mulholland. Coming from the rockstore. When you go around that turn there's usually a photographer or photographers and several people hanging out watching for crashes and stuff. I have caught myself even looking up the road a few yards at the usual commotion and people taking pics...

Pretty damn sure that's what happened to this guy.. It's sad that he couldn't see bikers right in front of him.. It's supposedly the first motorcycle into bikes crash in several years..
Regardless.. That biker more than had his head up his ass... Then up the bicyclists asses as well... Ouch!

Gotta say though...I think that bicyclist hammed up quite well...shoulda got some sort of award for his reaction there!...is this what they mean by...'ass over teakettle'?LOL!!!Sorry...it IS fuckin funny though...ya gotta admit;)Okay...not so funny...but still...how often do ya see a motorcyclist win in a wreck!;)Dude was up and walkin....I'm happy for him...bummer...yes...most definitely.

Had a rider hang inside the lane on a tight curve! I reached out and slapped her ass as I flew by on the inside with my zx 14r! My thoughts on this situation... unfortunate for the cyclist and the rider, but in reality "shhh" happens.
I almost slammed into the back of a Honda Civic last week, when he slammed on the breaks, while I was looking back for other riders, I knew I had no time to stop and looked beyond the target to avoid. I was riding like an idiot not looking ahead, but thankfully thanks to experience I missed the target!

I'm bringing this up as I was considering going on a ride to SoCal and wanted to cruise Mulholland Drive. Then, looking at this bit of road on Google Maps, I see it is a tiny mountain ride, only a few miles long from one residential neighborhood to the next. Check it out:

of course. I'd check out the Dragon's Tail in N Carolina if you want something a bit more worth the ride. However, my experience with twisties has been rather disappointing when I go to a new place. You can't really corner at you best unless you go over and over the road. A short new road will more fun than a long new road.

In any case, if you plan to go fast, I would not want to try to learn even a few miles in a day. The cops will be called the fourth or fifth time you pass (if they are not already there with a speedtrap as they often are at Mulholland and The Dragon's Tail).

It's a challenge riding these babies to their best on the street.

I've been to both Mulholland and the Tail of the Dragon and there is NO comparison. Mulholland is tame compared to the Dragon. There are just so many wrecks at Mulholland because THAT ONE TURN is wicked and there are so many MotoGP wannabes in So CA that watching crashes there is almost a spectator sport. I wouldn't travel all day to ride Mulholland as there are much better roads in the Southern CA area, the Rim of the World or Carbon Canyon Road to name a couple. There are also fantastic roads east of San Diego. I used to live in Orange County and all these were close at hand.

But the Dragon and surrounding roads is worth the trip. It's beautiful county and the Dragon itself, as popular as it is, is only one of many fantastic riding roads in the area. If you live East of the Mississippi it's a worthwhile trip.

Here is Dogo and friend at the lookout, we head downhill into the snake run. Dogo is long gone, I go line for line with the novice. The trick here is to look way out front. Watch the yellow and white lines kiss the front wheel close or closenough says the smoothing of the line: we keep the horizon in view is the trick to watching entry and exits. Heading up, I clear a bike or cut off a bike thru the snake part. So at the rickyracer point, that bike bang section has the longest hang time or pretty much ends the snake or begins the snake run. Taking the same turn downhill, the line is shorter, but heading uphill, the line hangs you out more.

4:57 begins the entry setup, whereupon exit, you cleared if not cut off the lead bike: not collect both. The duc was off line, exiting too early, not late'lining. It's part of your riding package, just like having the braking ability to loft the back wheel up and work the clutch pack mechanism. Looks like my hang time is close to 4/10ths or 3 point something, or say the longest lean over time of the snake. That's why there's that much action at that part is the exit. Either you run off the road, run up the hill, fall over the rail like they do, or collect bikes just at the right time.

5:04 is where you stop the vid. That shows where the exit point was. So my question is: were in relation was [the duc's] early exit as opposed to 'late lining' you wind up at that [same] spot?
