Ride
04/26/13 1:36 PM

Just got back from a good several hundred mile ride.Weather was perfect....65 degrees. This bike amazes me everytime I take er out.I returned back to stock...pipes.No engine mods...secondaries are in.I have to say....she's running so good...just mass power throughout.I won't be adding any mods to this bird. There was a 'discussion' in another thread about Vibration(s).I can only say....she's extremely smooth.I changed out the oil last night from Motul 10/40 dino to Motul 10/40 7100 full syn.I can honestly tell there IS a difference. This is the 3rd oil change so far...I'm at 1700 miles.I rode up to where I had my crash in Sept.I could see the marks where I left the road.I didn't stop.Pulled on through the turn....everything was fine...went a bit farther and fueled up,then rolled back in coming back....Those are some very nice turns actually....had fun today runnin through there...and coming home through the big curves and nicely wide highway.

I've been holding back in the lower gears...today I opened er up a bit more than she has been.Got some very nice feedback from my bike.I'm getting around 46 MPGallon.Shifting is extremely smooth clutching or not.It was mentioned in another thread about syncing.I don't think mine needs it right now....she's quite nice riding as is so far.I'm very glad I got another 14R...and ABS.I hope you all have some most excellent rides coming up.....I think my inputs today were smoother than they've been in a long time.I don't know why really....I guess I'm just "not in a hurry' anymore. This bike is perfect for me.

You all have safe rides......God Bless.

Now tonight...I got to missing my Yoshi pipes on there....I reinstalled.Just couldn't help myself;)

As the miles go by...my ship is running better and better. The trans has smoothed quite a bit now...the motor has smoothed out as well...I was a bit concerned a while back about a buzz that kept showing up at several rpm areas. It has gone.At 85 mph in 5th or 6th...she has virtually no vibing or buzzing at all...so darn smooth. And all the rpm ranges and gear combos are really very smooth as well.I am very happy with this.I was riding today...and putting her through some 'paces'...I suddenly realized...this is by far the best bike I've ever had.Even better than my 2012 14R.The Ivan's mapping and ECU flashing has worked well past my expectations. They definitely got THIS one right...Power everywhere.Strong...wheel lifting power is easy to get.She winds out into the 12k area....and shifts in to the next gear with huge thrust. Not a peep of miss or anything else.No backfiring...almost alive is how I would describe her.Way cool.Awesome machine she is.

I mentioned I went back to the stock screen, stock bar configuration. And firmed the suspension up a little....it really has made a difference in how she feels leaned in,or on the straights.Even just straight simple riding..she really floats through the road imperfections and all...and still feels plush, but not wallowy. These 14's are just way cool.I couldn't see myself having any other bike really.I didn't think I could improve over my 07...but the 2012 showed me different.I didn't think I could improve over the 2012...but this bike has got something over on that one.IDK what it is....but it's quite noticeable when I think back.I love this bike...oh...shit...I said that already

If any of you guys having a 14R haven't run in the KTRC "off" mode....you might wanna give it go for a bit....there is something different going on in that setting;)

Went on a nice spirited 300+ miler today....but I'm heartbroken....a cliff swallow tried to make it across in front on me...little guy was coming from right to left...flew across and hit my left bicep...Lining up for the strike....Applying airbrakes;)...and it's a BULLSEYE!!!!.Bounced down and landed on the radiator...squeaking...knocked out most likely.I tried to stop after the hit...but as I slowed to about 10 mph...he slipped down and out and landed on the road.I hope he's okay...I HATE hitting fun loving animals! No traffic behind me...so his chances are good for survival....the impact didn't kill him.He missed my rear tire as he fell;)Speed at impact...85mph.Yeah...he was stunned alright.

Also had a VERY TALL Doe on the side of the road ahead....I was only doing around 45..cause the road was a tad rough. She stood there....staring...I thought.."okay,one more moment and I'm applying the brakes"...just then, she trucked on across ahead of me...a good 70 feet or so...but it was kinda cool...got both deals on vid.I wouldn't want to nail a Deer THAT tall...she was at least as tall as the bike...and then some.Ferget about the bike damage...she'd rip yer head off before that!Good thing I wasn't doin 20mph faster;)

Not only that...I also got a Trooper 'escort' on the last leg of my ride...a good 60 miles or so.;)...so I pulled onto a farm to market road....he was well ahead by then.Going the same way but on the other highway.I'm cruising, having a nice fun 'see how she handles at these speeds' ride...when I come around a nice big curve....I look...up ahead....here's a Trooper pulling out in front of me...can ya believe it?Maybe even the same guy...IDK...I had to laugh. So it was 55 the rest of the way home....sa'll cool....who knows what may have been up ahead?

Also softened the suspension a bit...quite noticeable how she takes bumps and edges now.Very smooth. As opposed to 'hard'....think I'll leave em as is for a while. This bike is really really comfy.I love this bird.

Thanks, grn. Why not the black addition? Overkill with the remote?

Nope...there aren't very many monitors that can run 4K...not right now...and the ones that can....WAY spendy...too spendy for that.Silver or White editions work just fine. You could opt for the White edition...it's got everything a guy could want for regular filming and all...and it's wifi(remote)capable...with the free upgrade).
