cell phones

went out for a ride and my buddy was just behind me at a stop light and just as the light turned green I looked down for a second at the clutch lever because i had just ajusted it and it seamed that there was something not quite right well he waited for me to go and just as I started out crossed the limit line a car runs the red light misses us by afoot or so and the b@#$h f'ing waves at us as if to say I'm sorry but the thing that caught my eye was she was on a cell phone with left hand waving with the right hand and running the red light with no hands "what the phuck" All i can say is man you gotta watch out for dummies on the road and I think if we all just tell people we know to not call us from their cell phones while driving we are all going to be a lot safer in the end and guys instead of rocketing from the line as soon as the light turns green just give it a sec you might save a life and it might be your own...xxx's

Yeah I was turning to cross the oncoming lane to get on the highway and I just rolled out very, very slowly from the stoplight because there was a truck coming and i had a feeling there might be another vehicle sailing through the intersection on the other side of him. I could have nailed it and crossed safely in front of the truck but i would have had no idea how fast the hidden vehicle might be travelling. The guy behind me beeped but I just thought, "beep all you want. I'd rather not kill myself so you can find out if you just narrowly missed an accident."

There was no hidden vehicle behind the truck but I do not feel the least bit foolish for being extremely careful in that situation regardless of how fast I'm supposed to be on my sportbike. I've heard too many stories and seen too many vids of bikes tangling with cars.

I once did a jackrabbit start across a 6 lane street. When I got to the middle lane coming from the right I saw this car running the red light big time (34-40mph.) I twisted it some more and got the front wheel up and the back wheel 3 feet further foreward. Just enough to be missed by a curly hair at my rear. If I had been going at a more regular speed on the green I wouldn't be writing this right now. Yes It's good to be cautious but when your number is up......

4 lane 45mph road. I'm in the left lane in my car slowing down to stopped traffic at a flashing red. I glance into a red intrepid as I roll by, lady driving and about 3 kids, she's yackin on the cell. There were a lot more cars stopped in her lane than mine, so I was stopped about 10 cars ahead of her. My lane rolls forward 1 car and stops again. I glance in the mirror, and here she comes still on the cell. I brace myself and sure enough, she didn't even slow down. Hit me hard enough to wedge her hood under my rear about 3 feet, and break my seat so I was lying flat. She was yelling at the cop how I stopped without any warning at a green light. The cop tells her it's been broken and flashing red for 2 days. She got blasted with more tickets than I've gotten in my lifetime!

^^^Wow! Good thing nobody was killed. I bet your car was totaled. Glad the other driver had her kids buckled in. Hate to be a cynic but I am imagining her still yacking on her cell phone in traffic. Driving with kids is dangerous enough with all the noise they can make. I always try to have some sort of escape route when stopped in traffic on my bike and I keep a close eye on the mirrors.

Only damages were a scrape from her license plate, the seat, and a rub on my front bumper from the car ahead of me. My high rear bumper, the tow hook, and the intrepid's low nose saved my car. Unfortunately, I was driving home from the shop. Just put $1700 into the car in suspension, brakes, and goodies. It rattled and squeaked so much from the accident, I sold it a month later. Her car on the other hand was probably totaled, and the 2 kids in the back were NOT buckled in! I was just happy I wasn't on the bike!

Ya know with all we have to look out for when we ride Car ahead the ones behind dogs, cats, and DEER I is puzzeling to me that a lot of helmet makers are now putting bluetooth acc. in their helmets now all we need is someone giving us directions while we are trying to avoid Max the dog and the whole thing could go sideways with the quickness.I just think there is to much going on allready for most drivers or riders without having cell, nav voices in their head when the are moving down the road After all thats why we are out here tring to get away from it all or most of it anyway...xxx's
