I recovered my stolen ZX14R yesterday and I started it and it makes a loud rattling sound in the upper engine. I drained 7 quarts of oil from it. I put 4.6 new oil and filter back in. Anyone know what the loud rattling noise is? It is loud and constant.

If you're lucky it could just be loose valves or a bad cam chain tensioner. But it could be a bent valve or broken valve spring. Hopefully the noise is actually coming from the top end and not rod knock. Its good there was at least some oil in it. Don't run it anymore until you take a peek at the top end.

Rattle sounds like cam chain. 7qts might be for stunt riding. Waaaa A Waaa is the back wheel toque on and off. Thinking only rattle is a collapsed tensioner not holding a load. 14 fix I have a video. 14R is an update and haven't needed to, so design wise, ???
