New Cluster Gauges
07/27/09 5:17 PM

Hey All,

I was wondering what happens when you plug a used cluster into another bike? Will the ecu update the used cluster with the current miles on the bike or will it just keep the miles that are on the cluster that it replaced?

Thanks!

Gonna take a guess here as well-I would think that the used cluster would be updated from the ecu.If you installed a NEW cluster-it would read zero at first-same as if another one read say 10,000 miles.Probably would begin taking it's readings from the memory?I'm sure the manual mentions "replacing the gauges" somewhere in there.Maybe there's a setting with the mode and reset switch that interacts with the accumulated mileage from the "original" reading. That's a good question!

Yeah the cluster got busted up front the front end damage, im about to replace it with a used one. Just wondering whats going to happen because the bike only has 2k miles on it and I want it to be accurate of the current mileage. I picked the bike up with some front end damage but no structural or frame damage for 5k.

New cluster is going to take in info from ECU just like original cluster does after battery disconect.
