Thanks. Another job I need to take care of. Wish i didn't wait so long to do this stuff. There's no way anyone who hasn't done it before is going to get it all done in a couple days.

ha- well I'll ask you about lubing bearings when i get to when i get to 24K. I'm not looking for more reasons to have the bike out of commission than i already have. I think I'm down to about 7 or 8 reasons now!

Checked my chain stretch tonight. It measured 12 5/8" across 21 pins measured in 3 different spots all 12 5/8. So I have 1/8" of stretch left in the stock chain after 9,700 miles. I think I'm only on the third chain adjuster mark. I doubt I will get to mark #4 before the chain is ready for change.

Why do they have so many marks if you can't get past 4 of them in the first place?

Spec is 12 1/2 ". Does 1/8" stretch on the chain at 9,700 miles sound like an ordinary amount of stretch?

I see, you go with a bigger sprocket in back, now you need a longer chain and a little more room to adjust it.

At 27500 miles my sprockets looked like new, had to replace the chain cause it was kinking not because of stretch.

Well, I went to a 45T on the back and that required a 118 pin chain (stock is 116, if I recall). But, 0 miles on the new chain and sprockets and it is set at 2 marks from the front of the slots....just a hairline tighter past the second mark.
