FYI my brothers DENNIS KIRK has the best price I can find anywhere for Pilot Road 4 tires! $120 for the front!!! $180 plus or minus $5ish on the rear depending on the spec and profile you go with!!!

They must have bumped the price. To my door $321.xx Installing them this Sunday I hope. Speed rating was 167mph on the sticker. Dennis Kirk in my opinion is one of the best retailers out there. Always satisfied with their service and return policies.

Add in the Minnesota sales tax you and I have to pay and the $5 "tire fee" for each tire and that's exactly what I payed for mine.

Michelin pilot road 4's. Just installed these last night and what a major improvement over the stock tires. I noticed the change in literally the first 20 feet of riding. Stock tires had 4200 miles on them when they got replaced. Since I have had the bike I was disappointed with the turning/handling capabilities BUT HAPPY WITH THE PERFORMANCE. NOW I AM HAPPY WITH BOTH!!
So far this is the best mod on the bike.

My bike came with the metzler M5's. Never totally felt planted during very hard conering. Freway irregularities made front end feel unstable. Aslmost felt like I needed a stering damper.got decent milage out of then. Lil over 8k. Very twitchy. Went to pilot rd3 as soon as I worr those out. Great road feedback, twitch ness gone. Way better milage and wear too. 13k miles on that set. Got pilot rd4 now even better road feel and stability. So far over 6k and not alot of wear showing

Righty was starting to slip. Man I had fun!

My personal opinion is that these are some of the best 'All Around', tires I have ever ridden.

Slowmozx14. No real slipping just no confidence in the tires. I have ridden and cornered fast in a earlier life and know the difference. I always got that (aaaa I don't know feeling) when I tried to push them. Got to test the new tires some more on the way to work this morning, corners at more aggressive speed and lean and they preformed flawlessly. Between the tires and the speigler handlebar conversion this is the best bike I have owned.

I have found that Pr4's are sinsative to tire pressure. Since they have a little bit of a harder tire construction than say a 2ct or bridgestone s20 or a more performance tire like a q3. These needs a higher air pressure to work good. I run 40 ft 42 rear. Other more performance tires I usually run 30 ft 32 rear.

Track pressure is 28 rear, 32 front. Volumetric diff of rear tire requires lower pressure at the track and equates to equal pressure after a firm session.
Street I am running 39 front, 37 rear. But that's for hard street riding/canyon temp.

I hang my head in disgrace. We have at least two threads going with people who have melted rubber off the edge of their 14r tires ON THE STREET!

Lol. They work just as well on the street. Get the standard 2ct, pilot powers, s20s, ect and feel good about getting 3k-6k if your lucky out of those tires. The pilot rd4's have the same grip and twice the wear life..

I replaced my PR4 rear last month. I'm just really hard on rear tires with this bike. The stock tire lasted 3-4k and then I stuck a cheap Shenko on it for the winter - it lasted 4k. I put the PR4 on in May and got 6k out of it. I wear the middle out of every rear tire. Maybe I need to run in F-1 instead of F-OFF. I know I'm getting some rear tire spin when I accelerate hard (or so I've been told). I just put on a conti motion ($110) and I'll see what that does.

My front PR4 is still great.

I tried a set late in '12. They disappeared before my very eyes.
