I’m going to change the fork oil on 2012 14r.Is there any reason not to use ATF to flush the forks, before I use the proper fork oil?

As far a cleaning out the wear dust on the bottom of the fork, na, just hang it upside down and take a measure what comes out. To clean it, you'd have to separate the fork and all that. Then you'd have to pump out the sanction tube and pump the rod and purge that out.

I just turn it upside down, pump what I can get out, pour the amount that came out and fill the same amount back in. If you're going to take off the forks, might as well inspect and lube the steering stem. Then replace the one fork to spec at the triple tree, float the other leg so as to find the sweet spot of the axle threading into the other fork [by hand feel]. What you are doing is both ease of axle to find home and it spins right in, and the other is to square the triple tree to axle really.

The example, so as to even a degree off center, it acts the same as if in a minute way, as would be the exaggerated way, or how I found the forks -- set out of this racers top crown. Says his bike turns fine one way, sketchy the other direction. Out of instinct, I walked up to the bike and looked at the legs coming out of the top crown first thing.

Sure asshit, forks were way off. Had a bunch of guys holding the bike up, or trying to even out the legs out of the top crown, without the proper way of the static fork to axle setup. Comes back in and said that's was it. Been doing this for years. No one showed me, probably has been known before. But the think out of the box said, hey, line up the axle to the rear axle, and be square to the swingarm. Never dawned on my to recognize the sketchy turn one way. More like anal eyeballing up a picture on a wall.
