Cutting Stock Pipe to fit 1-2" inside slip on
06/04/09 3:21 PM

Has anyone contemplated the thought of hacksaw cutting about 1-2" off of the stock pipe (maybe even at an angle), and installing your slip ons to where they don't extend as far back...leaving the stock pipe short of the exit on the back of the slip ons? I wonder how deep would the purr be if this as done? I figure it might discolor any slip on that isn't all black or composite. Any input?

e, how are you going to plug in the slip if the can takes place of slip <<< IS the slip. So you wound up with a slip that is going to burn and rattle. That means you would have to mount the cut slip in the middle of the can so you have a shot at the muffler in the slip or it is open pipe.

Yes, the can will color without that inner muffler system and special mesh/fire retardant to make the muffler quiet and stuff.

The easiest purr is to listen to a few slips on the next, find the purr you like and go from there. You are looking at a lot of fabrication but anything will work. Now if you did all that work and didn't like the purr... Now what?

Then I'd go ahead and do what I really want to do any way...buy a full exhaust system, and sell the slip ons I just bought. They'd still be brand new. Yeah I want discolor the cans though. That would be stupid. I was just brainstorming og how to alter the pitch of a purr. I still am considering hacking of about an inch or two form the pipe at an angle.
