Gen1 Speed Sensor Removal
The speed sensor will need to be removed to test it or partially removed to remove the sprocket cover.

Tools:
1/4” drive socket
8mm socket
4 1/2” extension
non permanent locking agent
2 1/2 inch extension

Removal
1. Locate speed sensor on sprocket cover which is on left (sprocket side) of bike. It is a few inches above the gear shift foot lever.

2. Remove the speed sensor bolt using an 8mm socket and a 1/4” drive socket.


3. Gently pull speed sensor from hole in sprocket cover.


4. Use 8mm socket and 4 1/2” extension to loosen sprocket cover bolt (A) and free the speed sensor wire from the retainer.


5. Disconnect the speed sensor lead (B) from the main wiring harness.


Installation
6. Position speed sensor back into hole in sprocket cover (reverse of step 3)..


7. Use non permanent locking agent on the speed sensor bolt and tighten the bolt through the speed sensor using an 8 mm socket and 2 inch extension.

Speed Sensor Bolt - Torque: 35 in lbs


8. Arrange the speed sensor wire under the retainer and tighten the sprocket cover bolt (reverse of step 4).

Sprocket Cover Bolt - Torque: 87 in lbs


9. Connect the speed sensor lead to the main wiring harness (reverse of step 5).
