A cop car flashed his lights at me tonight. I was making some noise but just 5 mph over the speed limit. There was another cop parked up ahead and he was waiting to bust somebody. He looked straight at me. I wasn't speeding.

I am positive the first cop I came across was flashing his headlights to warn me that there was a road trap ahead. Go figure?

Just to echo the others, we use the patting the top of the helmet for popo around here as well. If there's something in the road you point down at it or use your foot if you can't let go. And to slow down it's just the hand down low in a 'stop in the name of the law' form. Personally, when I see people do the slow down gesture where they look like they are pushing garbage down in a trash can it pisses me off for some reason. Looks condescending or something. lol

Some of the people I ride with don't know what real hand signals are. They weren't riders before bikes had turn signals on them.

To tell people behind to slow down, you extend your left arm down, elbow held at 90 degrees, hand held flat, palm to the rear. No waving, no flapping. It means, stop or slow down, because I am.

If you want to tell someone coming the other way on a bike to slow down, the up and down flat hand is probably universal. But it can be misunderstood by people following you if riding in a group, so don't do it then.

Some of the people I ride with flap their arms like they are trying to fly to indicate they are going to slow down significantly. Most don't anymore, last meeting I explained they looked like doo-doo birds trying to take flight.

Even though I have signals, I still hand signal when riding in a group. I don't need some day dreamer running up on me.

That's why I will if I notice a cage a bit too close behind me. I don't think they know where to look for my sigs with all that luggage on the back!

Which is why I have my top case tied to my brake light, and my brake light does a progressive decay flash to solid on when I brake.

SEE ME it screams.

Going to follow up on the tip about AdMore for my V35 side cases and it will be even more so.

I've got all the luggage on now, going to Bowie MD for the Kawasaki Ticket 2 Ride expo there this coming weekend.

Darn, hope the VA Rating Board moves fast, and gives me what the medical record supports so I don't have to take them to court. Ohlins is waiting to know if they can stay in business on this event. LOL. So is Marchesini. And Brembo. I'm like a cat on a hot tin roof.... hurry up already!

Thanks. Nobody would like to be hurt like you were, nor like I was, just to get a VA pension.
