Plasti Dip
04/11/12 4:35 PM

Has anyone ever heard of this stuff called Plasti Dip? Has anyone used it on there ZX or car/truck? I was reading on my Duramax forum that people are using it to "Black out" emblems, bumpers and other chrome items or painted items. I guess this stuff peals off if you get tired of it and does not hurt the original finish. Here is two web sites...

Yep, sameshit. Way back in the 70's, had yellow and black. Took the pliers, dipped it and notice how G mentions 'slow, ya dipshit, pull it out slow,' is the key to a professional finish. Shelf life is short? Couple of years maybe? It gets hard and dries, obviously.

You thought I was obnoxious and wasted your minutes. LOL

I know tons of guys that use the spray on plasti-dip on rims, and emblems. Ive seen tons of people online do whole cars, but personally, rims are the largest ive seen. I did my buddys rims on his car in black. Been on there about a year, and still look good.

Before your criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you do criticize them, you're a mile away and have their shoes.

Cool, thanks for the replies and knowledge. I want to "dip" my stock rims on the 14 along with the "ZX14" logo on the tail. Then I would like to "dip" part on my truck.

All the chrome on the front plus bumper, along with the red GMC logo...

Then all the chrome on the rear bumper... Check out my rear plate frame

I think they came out pretty good. I'll take a few pics with them mounted back on the bike and post them.

Yes, use it on a lot of small projects. I've covered my rims, interior pieces, chrome grill....if it peels or scuffs, I just add a little more in that spot, it blends well with the other coats. I have never used it on a bike before.
