Bonneville Pro
02/17/12 2:06 PM

ok guys I need some help. just installed the Bonneville Pro and I need some one to decipher the set up. i need -12.7 heres the instructions i got:

Speedometer recalibration - There are two adjustment dials for the speedometer recalibration. The top dial adjusts in 10% increments and the bottom dial adjusts in 1% increments.
To increase the speedometer value - adjust the dial(s) from 1% to 50%
To decrease the speedometer value - adjust the dial(s) from 51% to 99% (99%= 99% of original signal or 1% reduction)
NOTE: Setting both dials to 0 equals no recalibration.
Example - You change your front sprocket 1 tooth smaller and your speedometer is now reading 9% faster
than actual you will set the dials to 91% (top dial at the 9 position and the bottom dial at 1.

now if I'm understanding this correctly I need to subtract 12.7 from 100 that gives me 87.3 now this unit won't do .3 so i round down to 87. Am i figuring this right? thanks guys

Scott sounds like you have a good handle on it. Nice to have dials for the tens and ones, sweet in fact. Sounds much easier than speedo healer. Ride with GPS on the bike and play. Any pics ?

Why do you suppose they put the wings on the sides with holes in them? I wonder if ther is not some place on the 14 that those holes match up to screws in OEM parts?

I dunno Rook didn't see any holes and it has to go under the seat,I could of put a couple short screws in it only cause I've got a under tail on it but opted with the tape Hell they didn't even give me any 2 sided tape with it lol what you see there is what you get didn't even come in a box just a zip lock bag

LOL. mine was used and it came in a ziplock bag too! Yeah, well it it has a limited market niche. I guess a lot of Muzzy stuff does come in a plastic bag. Schnitz does that too. My SpeedoHealer came in a plastic bag. but they were fancy enough to staple a cardboard lable on top so at least you sort of thought it came in a box.

I'm going to try mounting mine up by the ECU. I have no room down where you have yours mounted because of the PC and AutoTune and now my shifter module.

damn rook not much room back that way , whats your plan? guess you could eliminate the tool box or stick it in the tool box. Just remember to place it so you can get to the dials to adj or de-limit it

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to see if anyone pays attention to old posts, before starting a new related thread. I have one of these Bonnneville Pro things that came with the bike, but not plugged in. Does a Power Commander override the speed limiter? If so, I am gonna sell this and put it toward a PC.

Thanks, scottjkyl. I see you have both. That answers my question. I guess I will keep the unit.

yep, i bought a Bonneville and i have a pc5 installed. matter of fact, i have a Speedohealer which can be used to do what the Bonneville does but the bonneville is better.

keep water off the plugs.

Better?

If anyone knows about the Bonneville Pro speedo corrector/speed limiter, I see how the speedo adjustment works but can you clarify one thing?

If you set the Bonneville to the max setting of 170 mph, the signal to the ECU speed limiter and the speedo is capped at 170. then your corrected speedo will stop at 170 while the bike continues to accelerate even going past 186 mph without hitting the limitter, right?

OR

does the signal to the ECU cap at 170 without affecting the signal to the speedo thereby allowing the bike to attain speeds above 186 that will still indicate on the speedo?

I contacted scotty on fb and he seems to be saying the signals to the speedo and speed limiter are completely isolated from one another when the Bonnie is set to 170. The speed limiter is disabled and the speedo will indicate all the way around the clock.

Anyone second that?

Schnitz tech support says the speedo and the ECU both get a signal of 170. Makes sense if the signal goes to the ECU before going to the speedo. You got 3 pins in and 3 pins out. The Bonnie contacts all of them. Whatever comes out of the sensor goes to the Bonnie before it goes to the ECU. ..but does the Bonnie send the uncapped signal to the speedo or does the signal have to go through the ECU before going to the speedpo? I'm guessing Schnitz is right unless someone has actually tested this and found otherwise.

We got our info here:

Seems to be conflicting reports-Schnitz told this guy the speedo will continue to rise with the ECU capped at 170, another guy says he thinks the speedo and ECU both get capped at 170.....

BUT some guy explains how to turn the signal into a max 300 mph by switching the Speedohealer to kph mode. That way, when the bike does 50 mph, the ECU is getting a 50 kph signal. So you get accurate mph on your speedo all the way around and THE SPEED LIMITER WILL NEVER COME ON until you actually reach 300 mph which you never will. If you can do 200 mph on the speedo, the ECU gets a 200 kph signal which is only 124 mph. LIMITER OVERRIDEN, SPEEDO ACCURATE ALL THE WAY.

I don't know if I should sell my Bonnie PRO or keep it. I'd need to do over 186 to test out the Speedohealer kph hack.

Well, hope someone benefits from this. I'll post test results ASAP. Probably not this year.

So that makes all ECU flash parameters covered by modules for me. Top speed limiter, revXtend as high as I want, fueling, ignition...all adjustable/switchable at my little fingertips!

Actually, if I set the Speedohealer to +50%, I should be able to make the speedo read 186 at about 124 mph. If it does that without kicking in the top speed limiter, it works. After thinking about it, I starting to become a bit skeptical though. If the ECU gets a 186 kph signal, will it recognize it as kph or just plain 186? It's not a Euro spec ECU. Unless the ECU is equipped to recognize both kph and mph....?

Yeah, I know but it's almost a 10 year old bike so it's sort of befitting!

Most people are just flashing these days and that gets rid of the TSL without effecting the speedo. I think the reason there is not that much info on delimiting the the TSL and retaining normal speedo function is because there probably never were that many people who went over 186 anyway. It probably hasn't been tested but now it will!
