Electrical failure
08/16/22 10:39 AM

I was riding my 2009 ZX-14 and hit the kill and ignition switches to cool off the engine. When I turned on the ignition switch none of the panel lights were on. Everything was totally dead, no response from any switches at all.
Had to have AAA tow my bike home. (Well worth adding motorcycle coverage to AAA.)
At home I removed and checked the battery and found it to be fine. I see a starter relay next to the battery. Could this be the culprit?
Will appreciate any insight into what is wrong. Thanks in advance.

The first thing I'd do is lift the seat and check all the fuses in the 2 fuse boxes. There's also 2 fuses behind the battery near the starter relay...

How old is the battery? Check the battery's voltage. Was the ground on the battery post crusted with white powder, aka sulfuric acid?

I would suspect the ignition switch. You turned it off and it stayed off even after flipping it back on. contact is not being made or there is some other break in the circuit...that's my guess.
