06/07 exhaust vs 08/09 exhaust
07/17/09 4:41 PM

Hi all

2008 ZX 14, set up as a sport tourer, with LSL top triple clamp allowing bar backs and superbike bars, GIVI v35 bags, etc., and centerstand.

I wanted to remove the stock mufflers to remove some significant weight to compensate for the weight of what I have added, but I want to keep the centerstanbd I have added to be able to do chain lube etc at road side on longer trips.

I bought through my local go fast shop a pair of titanium slip ons made by Hamaguchi. Beautiful, works of art. However, when I went to fit them the mid pipe end that mates up to the collector is too small for the 08 collector outlets.

Sudco distributes the Hamaguchi titanium systems, so I called them, they list dual titanium slips ons only for the 06/07 ZX 14.

the local go fast dealer will take them back and provide a full refund, but has suggested taking the Hamaguchi mid pipes to a muffler shop and having the ends "expanded" to then fit over the 08 collector.

I am guessing that the 06/07 exhaust system must be smaller diameter than the 08/09 exhaust system, and I am wondering if the likely smaller diameter mid pipe of the Hamguchi ti slip ons intended for the 06/07 ZX 14, even with the ends expanded to then fit over the 08 collector, would be detrimental or restrictive for my 08, or would it be fine??

Thanks in advance for any wisdom....

Paul

thanks, Hub, that video told me what I needed to know.

so, the Hamaguchi ti's are going back to the dealer, now I need to figure out what alip ons to get for the 08 that will allow me to keep the center stand and not be too loud.... I am now thinking Yosh R77 carbon, or maybe something from Muzzy's. Who has best online prices?
