Almost lost the 14

Taking my favorite S curve onramp. Lots of construction all over town and one project very nearby. I guess there was a truck overloaded to the sideboards with gravel because a nice strip was spilled over on the outside of the corner exit.----right where I have my baby leaned over as I come onto the expressway.

I saw it coming. Thought about trying to go wide to miss it (but that would prolly mean I continue wide into the traffic instead of riding up the merge lane. I rolled off a little but I kept the gas on a crack. Straitened up a bit. Hit the gravel and drifted through the corner exit frontbackfrontback tirse alternatingly letting go and then grabbing.

Strange thing, surviving that made me want to go faster. kind of like "if that didn't get me, I sure ain't gonna have a problem with anything else." but I went home. Common sense prevailed (after a couple screems down the expressway).

Familiar territory is the worst. I was zinging through a roundabout on a local road which means quick and fun r-l-r transitions when nobody is around, and halfway through I see this pile of horse shit that I barely miss, boy, that would have sent me right down.

You know, it is never fun to hear about someone going down, or almost going down. But I must admit that I did smile a little when you mentioned that you came across a pile of horse shit. That would be a bad way to go, and possibly hard to explain. I might would just say I hit a slick spot in the road. Glad both of you made it through without loosing it.
We are going up to Boone this weekend to do some riding in the twisties. Whenever we get back, I always say the same thing that I used to at the dragstrip. If we can go, have fun, don't break anything, and don't get hurt, then it is a good day whether you win or loose.

I hit a puddle on my F4i only to discover someone dumped diesel fuel. As I cornered the back slipped out, foot down and I regained. I loved that CBR and it would have been such a shame. I haven't looked at puddles the same again!

Not good for traction.

On my way to work a car behind me got pulled over. Between the bike vibrations and the distance back.......thought the blue light was for me. I wasn't doing anything (right then) so didn't know what's up. I slowed down and got ready to pull over and then saw the car pulling over. My insurance company almost got a raise :-p
