New here and hoping for some insight. I bought an 06 ZX14 used from a dealer 1500 miles away. don't know maintenance history. It was delivered in January and I started it up to be sure it wasn't DOA. After doing some upgrades, (cut oilpan, PC5, Ignition Module for launch control, Nextup shiftminder for airshifter. 18" swingarm extension). Attempted to run it through the gears for data setup and found it "ornery" trying to shift from 1st to 2nd. did some reading and came up with the PNF mechanism could be culprit. What I'd like to know is, is it possible to remove the "3 steel balls" for the positive neutral finder mechanism without splitting the crankcase?

It's simple centrifugal force and within a mile an hour or two, those balls do not interfere with any shifting. It's more you look at the aftermarket stuff you thru at it. Mess with the gps wires and it has a problem of it's own shifting. Is the nextup tied in with the gps wires?

Thanks for the reply, the aftermarket equip is all functioning as it should. Bike still has not been ridden. This was trying to run through gears on the Lift. 6 feet of snow still outside can't even run up and down sideroad for testing. I'm fairly confident after a little more reading that its just gummed up a little and that a few KMs with 7100 synthetic in it will solve that situation!!
