I pulled off a 9.94 last friday and I was stoked. First time in the 9's. The MPH was off by a few due to a headwind though. I'll be back at the track next Wednesday to try it again.

Ran 11.4 @ 135
First time on a strip, really slow starts but the second half of the track was heaps of fun :-)

Sorry to see this post die out. I followed it for a while and now it's time to rejuvinate it once again.

We have a ZX14 that is my 17 yr old daughter's (Erica Edwards) Track Only Drag Bike. The bike has gone a 9.53 with the stock exhaust, tune, short swingarm and only being lowered.

We are in the process of setting the bike up for the AMA Supersport class which will run this March. With the pipe, race tune, filter, ballast weights, and pump gas it recently went a best ET of 9.47 and on a seperate run it pulled a best speed of 152.69 mph... and this is still on the stock swingarm as extended arms are not allowed in the SS Class.

We are expecting to see some 9.0's - 9.2's once we run the race fuel in it and she gets more seat time.

Enjoy!!!

I was at the track last wednesday and I didn't do so awfully well, but the MPH was great for me at least.

2 - 9.97's
2 - throw away passes.

At least I did manage a 6.56 @ 117.6 in the 1/8 on one pass.

9.78 @ 145 has been my quickest so far.

VERY nice to see.

However, i didn't know they were allowing ballast in the s/s class?

Yes, ballast is allowed but only 30 lbs max and it has to be mounted behind the pivot point of the swingarm.

The SS class ZX 14's and Busa's must meet a 680 lb min. Weight and with my racer being 120 lbs... We need the extra weight for sure.

holy hell i'd have to be 210 lbs to ride my bike in s/s

Nice to see a young female rider for sure. How long has she been racing? What kind of 60's is she getting out of the bike with the stock arm on it? judging by the 1/4 and mph i'd venture to guess 1.65-1.68s?

I'm way too poor to go racing with the big dogs, but i try to watch every chance i get. I'll be keepin an eye out for you all, hope you do well

SlowNinja,

Thanks for the boost and you approval... much appreaciated!!!

Erica is 120 lb. in street clothes and has never been on a streetbike and has been on Motocross Bikes since she was 6 and now, 11 years later she has developed some skills for twisting a throttle but again, she has only been on her ZX14 for 9 months.

Her 60 ft times are regularly 1.57 and last Tuesday she ran a best ET of 9.31 and this was accomplished with a Race Fuel Tune running on Pump Gas (we are struggling to get the correct fuel).

We'll be in Valdosta, GA in March 5, 6, 7 for her 1st. Semi-Pro Event.... hope to see you there. Be sure to introduce yourself if you can make it there.

1.57, wow. I suppose its been a while since i've done stock length estimating LOL

9.30s are very impressive for the setup, most folks around here are not accomplishing that stretched.

What kind of fuel are you looking for? Also, is s/s a stock clutch class??

I'd love to say i could make it to valdosta, but thats quite a drive for me (10+ hours) and there isn't really a class for my bike (i don't think). Its either too long, too light, too modified, or they won't let me run cause of the carbon fiber body work. I'm pretty well stuck running our local knock-off of real street.

Slow,

We are looking for XXX F-118 and the class does require astock style clutch.... no lock-ups and anything special.

AMA Drag Bike does have a Street ET and Pro ET Classes... check out the AMA Drag Bike Rulebook to see if your setup fits into either.

There could be other classes that fit as-well.

DESIGNATION: PET, followed by rider number.
Handicapped from a “dial-in” chosen by each competitor, this is for the professional bracket racer
and those seeking to sharpen their skills for sportsman racing. Standard safety requirements are
the only class rules. All entries run. Rider must be a full AMA and AMA Dragbike member in order
to compete for points and contingencies. Mini bikes or pit bikes prohibited in competition.
Maximum dial-in permitted is 12.99. Exception for maximum dial in will be considered for wheelie
bar bikes on an individual basis. (See General Regulations)

4.4.2 STREET ET
DESIGNATION: SET, followed by rider number.
Reserved for street legal motorcycles and handicapped from a “dial-in” chosen by each
competitor, this is for the beginning racer. This eliminator is run tournament style with a “zero”
second break-out. Standard safety is a requirement. The class prohibits delay boxes, 2-steps,
wheelie bars, slicks and glycol based antifreeze. D.O.T. street tires required. All entries run. Mini
bikes or pit bikes prohibited in competition. Maximum dial-in permitted 18.99. (See General
Regulations)

Where are you from? One of our local racers is a XXX distributor (however, i'm in oklahoma lol). But he might be able to find a distributor in your locale.

ET classes really aren't my thing, at least not with the motor i'm building. It's going to be more of a heads up motor, if you know what i mean. Its basically in 'real street' form, except our local class allows aftermarket body work. I have carbon fiber body work on mine, as well as a wet nitrous kit.

I did speak with someone from RK Motorsports who was willing to ship me 30 gallons but that is way more than I need. I looked into getting a few other racers together to make the purchase together but they're not competing in AMA Events so they have no reason to use XXX fuels.

Thanks for your willingness to help.

I actually thought this thread was going to be about folks taking it to circuit tracks, not drag racing, although I love both of them. Has anyone taken their 14 out to a circuit course? What was your gearing/cam/setup?

Lol.

I've not taken my 14 to a road course. I have a friend who did, and it didn't end well. He took the fairings off (was scraping the lowers) and eventually rubbed a hole in the lower radiator hose (the end by the block). Ended up putting coolant on his tire mid turn and wiped him out. Hurt em pretty bad.

pchotrod, where are you from?

Hey, just called our distributor and he said he can ship you a 5 gallon pail. Bad thing is its about $40 just in shipping

He did say that he could ship either 30 or 55 gallons, and the shipping would only be $60.

Appearantly shipping is so high because of the haz-mat requirements. According to XXX's website they are going to be at valdosta, perhaps you could buy 5 or 10 gallons there?

If you want, I can email you the distributor's contact information. Just let me know

Thats where i've rode.

Very nice track. Gets a little squirly on wheelie hill, especially with any power. A 600 will wobble, a 750 will lift and drop, 1000 will wheelie, and a 14 can end up on its back. Be careful, and have fun

Thanks for the props guys. That's my girl alright. That was one long weekend!!! The production team did not allow anyone to make a practice pass for 3 days so we sat around and visited with others all day Saturday and Sunday. We were really looking for about a 9.20-9.30 but a clean 9.50 is respectable for being straight out of the trailer.
