What should i do
11/07/16 1:01 AM

Your text to link here...I laid my 09zx14 over on the right side and somehow pulled out a screw/bolt inline with, but beside the far right side cylinder/exhaust hole... What is my options for repairing without spending a fortune??? This is only a pictute. Not my bike, but the same bolt... Mine now is just an empty hole where bolt was pulled OUT...Your text to link here...

At first glance I though that was the engine mount. I'm not sure what that bolt is for but if it's just some kind of access hole, get it rethreaded and use a larger bolt. I've see special mounts for taps that fit perfectly parallel to the surface so the tap goes in straight.

I can't figure out what that bolt is for either but if you want to replace the bolt and the entire old bolt is gone (no left over bits inside) I'd recommend using a thread insert instead of just trying to re-tap and use a larger bolt.

On another bike I tried re-tapping threads that were pulled out, the new threads were cut in but were no where near as strong as the original threads and couldn't hold the torque necessary for the bolt. I ended up buying a helicoil thread insert kit for the the bolt (comes with the inserts, drill bit and tap), super easy to use and the threads are WAY stronger than the original threads. Only downside is the kits aren't cheap, was something like $60 for the 1 size.

But to give you an idea as to how well they work, I tested out the process on a scrap block of aluminum I had, standard tap let me torque to 15 ft-lbs before the threads gave up. Helicoils I did 35 ft-lbs before I gave up since it was too hard to torque this little block of metal anymore.

Not sure what's with the link being in India, you can probably pick the kits up at different automotive stores, motorcycle stores, online, etc.

Find out what that hole is for. If it's a water jacket drain you got problems. But it may just be a hole used during manufacturing for a line bore or something. If no coolant , air or oil is coming out, forget about it.

Rook the mount hole is further forward. You can see it in that picture.

I am pretty sure this is the front cam chain guide top bolt.

Hard to fathom how that bolt could have been ripped out without breaking the casting. Are there any threads left? Or is the hole in the casting smooth and the bolt threads into the camchain runner? If it does, you will have to go in and replace the runner. Worst case, it passes through the runner and threads into the cylinder casting on the far side of the runner. A larger bolt may not work then, it may be too large to pass through the hole in the runner.

The bolt may have unscrewed itself out on the slide... you hope. Buy the front tensioner bolt and see if it screws in and tightens up? Without the head damage, either it snapped some and is still there with half left or spun out... call the ball.
