Testing IC igniter
07/08/09 5:04 PM

OK Hub, got one for you. Do you know how to test the IC igniter? I have a feeling mine is going out. Sometimes when I go to start my bike I push the start button and nothing happens for a half a second or so. But I can hear a noise coming from the IC igniter. After the half second or so, the starter turns over and the bike fires like normal. Please explain in simpleton terms, LOL!!

Well, maybe it's the start button. But to clarify when I turn the key the fuel pump does kick on. The computer goes through it's cycle. Everything is normal till I push the start button. It will light off right away, or it doesn't. When it doesn't, I hear what sounds like a bad ground fault type noise coming from the IC igniter. I know the sound is coming from it because if I touch it I can feel the noise as well as hear it. Did I mention I fracking hate electrical problems!!!

You got the heat and dust part right. It was 103 today with 47% humidity, so it felt like 110. Got out my trusty Radio Shack ohm meter, stepped into the garage to do what you suggested. Felt that blast of heat when I opened my garage door and said forget about it today. I'll let you know when I do get to play with it. "Thank's Hub"

Got the start button assembly from Dogo today, WooHoo!!! Anybody needing to buy anything from him? I have to go back to my normal standard. Would I buy from him again? Yes, without question!! Shipped it to me fast and was packaged better than what I would have probably done. After I pulled mine off I see what the problem was. Mine was cracked on the inside. Must have come from the factory like that because I've never messed with that assembly at all. And I don't think I could have pushed it to hard to crack it. I.D.K.??

Thanks again Dogo. That start button wasn't a serious problem, but I was tired of it, LOL!!!
