Thanks for the info. I have to do mine the opposite of which most of you are talking about though. I am 5'6" so I had the lowering links put on when I bought it and lowered an 1" so I could have both feet flat on the ground. I don't think they messed with the lights when they did it though. I always ride with the highs on during a sunny day(better to be seen then heard in my book) and sometimes get some annoyed with the brightness of just a stock bulb. I look at it as it's better to get 1 or 2 pissed then it is to get just 1 not seeing you at all and hit you . The issue is, I don't ride a passenger often but when I do at night even the lows are too high and I get people thinking I have the highs on. So apparently I need to lower them a bit because when they lowered the ass end a bit, it had brought up the projection of the beams.

Okay...lower the assemblies down about an inch....ride(at night)with your brights on....that way...when cages are approaching(from a long ways away...at least 300 feet or so),you can turn your lows on...and they'll realize....these ARE your lows.I don't mean...with a lot of oncoming traffic(at night)...to ride with your highs on....no....but when traffic thins out...then switch to highs...and go from there. You'll see what I mean.IF they're STILL flashing you at night with your lows on....consistently...lower the assemblies even more.Until you don't get continuous flashes from other cars...I'm assuming you ride at night anyway with your highs on....only lows when you have approaching traffic?yes? So having the lows slightly 'lower' than they normally would be shouldn't affect your night vision much....????There IS a visual line going across the beam area...you can see it when you point them at a wall or something. That line should NOT be hitting the oncoming cars in the driver compartment...you can see it as you approach and go by.That line should be hitting at the front of the cars....below the windshield and on the grill. That will stop them from flashing you.You can also adjust those beams slightly off to the right(as you're sitting on the bike)...that will keep the beam from directly hitting the cars. It's not a big adjustment...you won't notice it while your driving...but they will.Happily!

I found this picture for reference, because it's way better then the manual picture. I see 3 screws on here, the grey 1 with the metal ring with jagged edges I know does the side to side adjustment and 2 silver ones (smaller head one on the bottom and the one with the elongated head on top). Which is for up & down adjustment, and what, if any use is the other? Thanks
thanks for the other info Grn14

The hex bolt up in the corner...that silver one...that's your vertical. You know...your question about the silver lower one...interesting.I just looked at a new assembly that I have here from a few years back....that silver one actually LOOKS like it's an adjuster of some sort for the lamp frame in there. It has the same kind of threaded plastic 'keeper' that the other adjusters do...like maybe it does move something in there.I never really noticed it before...not as an adjuster...but it does look like one...?????Makes me wonder now IF the high beam really IS separate from the low beam vertical/horizontal adjustment.I always went by the manual....the two adjustments(assuming they were both ONE PIECE)...this is very interesting now!The manual says nothing about it...but..yeah....it does something..it aint there just for looks.I thought maybe it helped hold the two assembly parts together...now I'm not so sure;I always assumed they were connected...not so..They aren't.That high beam can be adjusted independantly from the low beam.I don't remember ever seeing that in the manual.

It's NOT talked about in the manual....but it adjusts the HIGH BEAM horizontally(independently)(I think...hard to tell).Looks like it to me....and the two bolts they talk about are for the WHOLE assembly.I never knew that...in all these years! Thanks! So all four bulbs are separately adjustable.I'm surprised no one mentioned this in all this time.Without it being against a wall or something...I can't tell exactly how it's moving...but it appears to move it side to side.I never touched mine.Didn't even know it did anythingLOL!

ROOK said...way back..."Anyone recall how many 360s they did on the clockwise? I'm going with 2 complete revolutions of each adjuster. I can see that this makes the high beam go up. I can't see that this is doing anything for the lows but I imagine I will notice the change better on the road than I do against the garage wall"...he hit it on the head....I don't think anyone realized it!I didn't.Manual never says anything about it....WTF?????

Thanks Mike....way to go!
