I given "lack of proof of insurance" and "failure to properly display lic plate." Both civil infractions, no criminal record. $270 which I payed. No insurance hassle no points off.

That was one $270 I was happy to part with. Pretty cheap to cover the price of my stupidity.

I'm coming home from the gym tonight driving my new vehicle like a grandma as usual and I get pulled over. The officer asked for drivers license registration and proof of insurance right away. i think they usually just ask for drivers license---you should be able to see the registration sticker on the plate (well--I know they can because I found that out a couple months back). I had no idea why I was being stopped. She said it was because I came close to the side of the road once and crossed the center line just a tiny by a couple inches--WHAT? I kind of gave her my "are you kidding me?" look and handed over my credentials. She came back and gave my stuff with no ticket. I asked her while she was walking back to her car if she just wanted to stop me because I really wouldn't have a problem with that. Further, I noticed the ice was a foot out in the street from the snowbank so if I came very close to the edge, I would have run up on it. She just said both her and her partner noticed I was driving erratically.

How much do you want to bet her partner is the guy who pulled me over a couple months ago?

I drove back over the rout I was taking home and I really don't see how I could have been driving that badly even one time without having remembered it.

My guess is they ran your plate, saw that you had been ticketed for no insurance before and wanted to check to make sure you actually have insurance now. I think as long as you have your papers in order and are respectful you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks my brothers! Haha -- I will have to watch my Ps and Qs when the bikes come out. I usually do in town anyway.

I hope the cop isn't sore because his charges got amended. There's a lot of illegal equipment on my bikes even if I don't break any driving laws.

I guess it all depends on where you live what the penalty is for no insurance, drivers license or registration. I live in PA and was rear ended on my motorcycle near Coatesville, PA by a female driver with no insurance and driving on a suspended license. The cop didn't arrest her or impound her car, she was allowed to drive off with just a ticket. When I was young and stupid years ago I drove without insurance but I wouldn't dream of driving without adequate insurance today. Lesson learned on your part and hopefully there's a program available to you to take so you won't have a permanent record. PA has what's known as the ARD program and it's usually available to people with no criminal history and if you complete the program your record is expunged.

Thanks wellcraft.

All went well. the charges were changed to non-criminal offenses. Hopefully I do not have an arrest record. I have checked online but you need to pay to get the background check data.

I'm currently looking for work and getting interviews but no hire. 6 now. Could be there is an arrest record. ...but it could be a lot of things like I'm old. IDK? I should probably pay up the $ and see what they have on me.

7th interview now confirmed another candidate was hired.

I doubt they would spend money on a background check until they offered me the job. I guess I'm just old.

I did have another interview today though. It went great. They all go great now WTF won't any of them hire me? Do I seem like I would be a bad art teacher?

Sometimes you can cross all the t’s and dot all the i’s and still get screwed. When I crashed, my friends were there and volunteered to take my gear and go get a truck to haul the bike but the prickish cop wouldn’t let them and insisted on having the bike towed and impounded. Cost me $237 for fukin nothing, not to mention the ticket he wrote. I know 4 different riders who’ve had similar accidents and injuries and the cops weren’t even called. Already paid a lawyer $500 to fight the bullshit ticket, so at least a grand will be wasted becsuse the cop lives on the Pig Trail and has a hardon for motorcycles.

Sucks, Danno. As if crashing and getting injured wasn't enough. Good luck on the ticket.

Thanks, Rook. The first court date was moved forward a month while the lawyer awaits discovery. It will be interesting to see what evidence they present regarding a crash with no witnesses other than some lady in a hoopty full of dogs that I passed a few minutes before??. I was doing about 60 and she was going 40 in a 55 when I rolled around her. I heard she was hysterical at the scene and thought I was dead until I got up, which really freaked her out.

Most first ‘no insurance’ tickets in Illinois are expunged if the offender shows up in court with proof they (now) have coverage. Fines differ from county to county, Where I live, it’s $500, but the next county north it’s only $100. Guess which one has the most drivers without?
