Spy?

The bubble idea sounds like a plan. Only trouble is, you might not see that bubble or spit when the engine cranks that fast. I think the better idea is to use a leak down tester or by using [real low pressure] while having the exhaust valve open, you might catch the bubble going one cylinder at a time.

I would think that if the soap & water solution is mixed properly, and we all have seen the perfect mixture as kids when making huge monster bubbles, rather than looking for small popping bubbles, the bubble or bubbles should tend to grow with each exhaust stroke in the cycle. It might be possible to amplify the situation and improve the opportunity to detect a leak by slightly restricting the exhaust (a buddy holding a wet rag over the tail pipe / partially blocking it).
My suggestion is based on a quick and simple test that requires the least amount of time and effort for Bluethunder and anyone feeling they may have an exhaust leak issue. I also considered than many ZX14 owners, myself included, do not have the luxury of specialized equipment or testing tools. My concern regarding a bubble test would be heat. It should work on a cold to warm engine, but a hot engine would vaporize the water out of the soup solution. This may appear as small fast popping bubbles and leave a soap residue on the pipes.
I had held off posting in this thread due to the hostilities. I hope to avoid getting in anyone's cross hairs and only hope to help out on this forum where possible. I am grateful for advice and tips that I have come across on this and other forums.

I got news for you. Those with sensitive ears (my hearing is too shot from weapons firing and grenades and shit) can hear the same thing on the Concours 14.

Guess its a KHI 1452 powerplant thing. Does the ZX14R do this?

Everything that has moving parts makes some mechanical noise. In the automotive world, gallons of coolant and oil, inches of metal wall thickness, baffled intakes and exhausts and lots of insulation minimize the 'ticking' of the clock, but it's still there. Turn up the music if it bothers you.

Yes, I think it goes without saying that there is a certain amount of normal engine noise that you will hear out of a big, four cylinder, fuel injected, dual overhead cam engine such as the ZX14 has.

Its not gonna run as quietly as a Swiss watch, and with quiet exhaust, you can expect to hear certian components make a certian amount of *reasonable* noise as they function.

Reasonable being the operative word, here.
