ABS pump and solenoid relay Q
06/06/18 6:20 AM

Hi guys

Norwegian (old) man here, my first post. hello to everyone, need some advice

Have a late 2007 first gen with ABS europe model and I change my tires last weekend, I do all my maintainace my self, and been lurking this forum for the last 5 years for tips and tricks

Well, I put on some brand new fresh Michelin Road 5 (stock size) and after that my ABS light came on.

I tought it was the wheel sensors or the speed sensor ring since I changed my tires my self.

But I was wrong, they look good, the rings are in mint conditions and after testing and controlling the ABS I got the code 19 fail, ABS Solenoid relay failure. 1 + 9 flashes on the ABS lamp.

I reset the ABS, took it for a short drive but still the same. Reset again, took out the battery, checked the tires again, checked the pressure and everything else I could think of...since I find it strange that this happend just on the same time I changed my tires. But I do not got any sensor fails...still code 19

My question is, is this Solenoid relay a part of the ABS pump under the tank or is this a single part ? And if....where is it located. No big deal, I can use the bike, but it is annoying me :)

Anyone knows ? Thanks in advance

Oyvind

The US ABS came in 2013 and on. From the 2013 ABS wire diagram ABS is not listed as a function in the relay box. That implies the ABS relay could be in the ABS Hydraulics module. This diagram also shows a ABS self diagnosis system connector and a ABS self diagnostic terminal so a dealer with the correct software should be able to tell you more details.

A Gen 1 wire diagram should list your functions and connections.

Thanks guys

I have the wirediagram, but it is not easy to see if this is a part of the ABS pump or not :-)

But I guess you are right Cruderudy

Yes in Europe most of the zx14 or ZZR1400 as we call them here have ABS.

I will try to do some more testing with my multitester and the diagnosis system to find whats wrong.

I keep you updated. It might be a ghost of something :)

Thank you Rook.

Not sorted, but good news

Code 19 was a ghost, triggered by the control of the fuse , and the system remember the lost signal. After 140 km at work today I got the 4x4 flashes and that is tve rear sensor. Much better and a easy fix. I guess I must have toasted the sensor my self...hmm but a sensor is cheaper then a abs pump. And by the way, the solenoid relay is a part of the pump, stated in the 2012 + service manual. But not in the 2006+ .
