Night Rides
06/16/10 3:45 PM

Well, since I work evenings here,it's difficult to get much day riding in.BUT,I started going out after work...after 12:00 at night. It's been staying light up to 10:00 PM.I've just been needing to get out and go lately. And I can say...It's really been cool.Temps are in the mid 50's up to mid 60's.Very little traffic at these hours. And very relaxing.Last night I was cruising through a city here closeby and came around a curve. There he was, runnin(loping) right down the center lane(it's pitch black here at night)...a cougar.Ya...I was a tad stunned at first. No,I didn't stop to check him out.He just moved over a bit and let me go on by,with an odd look on his face like...what the heck you doin on my road? Then up ahead, two racoons cruised across.Up ahead a bit further...skunk.Then a buck and doe further on.Nothing has attempted to play suicide run with me though....but I'm not bein stupid either and blastin through there at 100 plus. It's been a good week so far.My bike is runnin excellent.Life is good ya.Ride safe guys and have fun!Actually, there's alot to be said for cruisin the speed limit....sometimes 50 aint so bad.Just me and the bike...listening,enjoying.No rush.No traffic.

I couldn't agree more! Night rides when there's little traffic and it's just you, the bike and the outdoors... To me its what riding is all about. Just have to make sure you don't hit any small animals (or big ones if there's deer).

There's BIGGER ones than deer here Bro....just the other night someone nailed a moose and calves.Seen bear and wolf here as well.Coyotes...ya,there's some o'them also.Elk and Mountain sheep...they hate to give up the right of way! It's easy to forget that this area/state is WILD WEST country. It's pretty 1800's sometimes! We're in THEIR playground!
